Harry Potter memories

Harry Potter’s gone but not my memories. What are your favorite Harry Potter memories? If I share mine, it’s only fitting that you share yours.

I remember seeing the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with my friends (and, serving as the only adults in the late night audience). I remember standing in line at my local library, two hours before its opening, for almost every single Harry Potter release and conversing excitedly with similarly impoverished students. I remember attending the library’s party surrounding Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix and marveling at the bowls full of gummy worms, the mandrake displays, and librarians dressed like Pomona Sprout. I remember helping my friend select recipes for her Harry Potter kids party, including cauldron cupcakes. I remember walking at midnight to my local bookstore with friends when Rowling released the Deathly Hollows and grabbing the final box as a souvenir. I remember reading the entire novel in one night and feeling my obsession sated with the ending.

I remember mentally thanking Alfonso Cuarón for pushing Harry Potter into adulthood, while leaving the rubbery CGI behind. I remember laughing at the media posts suggesting Warner Brothers replace the original actors for “aging too quickly,” even though they remained only a few years older than their characters, unlike the actors in most CW teen dramas. I remember hating that they called the American text/film “Sorcerer’s Stone” as opposed to “Philosopher’s Stone.” I remember rolling my eyes when Daniel Radcliffe starred in Equus, yet feeling grateful when seeing his theatre training in Deathly Hallows — Part 2.

And, I remember watching the final Harry Potter film for CliqueClack Flicks. Those are my Harry Potter memories. What about yours?
