A week of Young Frankenstein!

CliqueClack is geared up for a 'Young Frankenstein' series of posts we're sure you'll enjoy! Come along ... or there could be a riot. And ..."A riot is an ungly thingk... undt, I tink, that it is chust about time ve had vun."

It all started with an idea that was originally dismissed. On the set of Blazing Saddles, Gene Wilder was sketching out an idea to Mel Brooks about yet another Frankenstein film.

“Not another one!” Brooks told Wilder. “We’ve had the son of, the cousin of, the brother-in-law of … we don’t need another Frankenstein.”

Wilder persisted. “What if the grandson of Dr. Frankenstein wanted nothing to do with the family whatsoever? Imagine: What if he was ashamed of his crackpot ancestors?”

“That’s funny,” Brooks replied.

*Voila!* Young Frankenstein was conceived, the beloved parody of the Frankenstein genre that references a healthy number of the series’ early classic horror films.

And here, at the opulent, festive and autumnally decorated CliqueClack offices, we’ve decided to delve into all things Young Frankenstein for a week. Beginning tomorrow and right through next Sunday, the CliqueClack writers will toss out thoughts, reactions and more about one of our favorite black and white comedies for everyone to enjoy. Plus, if you’re a “Twitterer,” you can easily keep up with us here — @CliqueClackFlix — to get reminders as the posts go up.

We’re looking forward to it and hope you will be too … so please join us, won’t you? We’d like to hear what you think about the film and about what we have to say.

However … there’s just one thing we’d like you to do when you come along: You think you might be able to “Walk this way … ???”
