I’m nuts (and chocolate) about Nutella

NutellaI’m always shocked, and a little appalled, when I start talking about Nutella and someone doesn’t know what it is. How can someone live their life without knowing about the existence of this amazing chocolate and hazelnut spread? It’s sweet, creamy, with chocolate overtones and hazelnut undertones. What’s not to love?

For my money, Nutella is perhaps the only spreadable food that can even approach the deliciousness of peanut butter when slathered on a simple slice of bread.

The good old Nutella sandwich is a classic, but it is by far the only use for Nutella. Food Network’s Giada De Laurentiis is as crazy about the stuff as I am. If you’re a watcher of her shows you’ve probably seen her cooking with it. You can check out a bunch of her recipes on the Food Network website, including a Nutella sandwich, Nutella cookies, Nutella ravoilis, and a Nutella calzone. All those recipes look great, but let’s face facts, I could eat this stuff straight out of the jar. Oddly enough, I’m not a fan of Nutella on toast. Truth be told, the spread gets a little too runny for my tastes.

If you’re one of those people who have never tried, or (gasp) never even heard of Nutella, I urge you to run out to the market (or click the Amazon link below) and pick some up straight away. If you like chocolate and/or hazelnuts, IĀ guaranteeĀ that you’ll love Nutella.

If you hadn’t guessed, I’m totally craving some right now. Sadly, I don’t have any in the house. I guess I’ll just have to settle for my imagination for the time being.

Nutella is the best! My daughters like spreading it on matzoh crackers. I went into the link you gave above and I’m going to try Giada’s Nutella Raviolis – how decadent!
