Everthing after that was just a deadman’s dream. Norm MacDonald, on his Twitter feed, makes a strong case for this theory.
For myself, the final ep was a great send off for a great show.

I’m also not calling it the “best” but … by a longshot from the best? Nah.

That would have made sense for him, but, in the end, having Walt literally take the fall for Jesse there allowed for Walt — the true subject of this entire story — to complete the loop of his redemption. His death there on the floor would free Jesse from all suspicion of involvement, allowing the authorities to assume Walt was still cooking meth all along.”

Nope. Here’s why, in my opinion:

If the DEA / FBI / whoever is worth anything (and they are) they will scour the Nazi lab and be puzzled by the fact there are tons of fingerprints and evidence left behind by Jesse … and very few clues as to Walt’s involvement at the lab. Further, with Walt’s signature (and prints) all over the “kill” vehicle, that should raise a few eyebrows.

Loved the fact Walt was “the thinking man” right down to the end, reprehensible though he might be. But the last few episodes – and especially the finale – proved that. Calculating, i.e. Skyler, Grey Matter. Methodical, i.e. his final use of the ricin. Understanding, i.e. Walt Jr. … or should I say “Flynn”? Humble, i.e. Skyler and Holly. Even regretful in his own way.

Not the greatest of finales by a long shot … but I’m more than satisfied.
