(Season 5, Episode 11 – “Play’n With Fire”)
Why is it that, even with a movie called Smoke Jumpers, I knew right away what “fire” meant in this episode’s title, before the episode started?
It’s amazing that the goings-on in this episode would lead to the boys basically putting their tails between their legs and getting on a plane to New York. I’m sure what John and Dana said about Vince’s acting will work in his favor soon, though with one episode left (I believe), we won’t see anything much out of it this season.
I think it’s both hysterical and very telling that the director hated Vince’s performance so much that he would not budge at all. As I’ve said before, Vince’s acting on this show is terrible. Some of what the director forced out of him in those 50 takes was pretty good for once. What does the rest of Hollywood think of Vince? They seem to all remember him most for Aquaman. Yeesh.
Obviously we can put my question about Jamie-Lynn Sigler to bed (no pun intended). Apparently someone said the two actors are dating for real too. The whole storyline with those two was oddly placed, and I can only make sense of it if she comes back again for more episodes later as a more permanent girlfriend for Turtle.
I might have to say this in every episode review of this show: Ari is the MAN! The things he did in this episode to try pulling through for Vince was stellar. Bluffing to the director and Dana was gold.
A couple of final points:
– Why didn’t Turtle go into his music career ideas with Jamie-Lynn? Did he just give that all up?
– Someone needs to start a Lim-hos business, stat!
– As for Turtle’s real name? In case you didn’t catch it: Sal.
Turtle: “Hot girls driving limos. I love it! Call it ‘Lim-hos.'”
Songs in this episode:
Rage Against the Machine – “Guerilla Radio”
The Heavy – “Dignity”
Robin Thicke – “Dreamworld”
i know vince is turtle’s boy & all & he wants to be there for him, but i would NOT pass up a weekend with jamie-lynn to go back to queens. they could just wait a couple of days before i got there.
i liked the ep & i agree that ari fucking rocks!

Oh I forgot to add one more thing. Isn’t E representing the writers of Smoke Jumpers? He didn’t seem completely upset that the movie shut down production, which is going to piss off E’s clients royally.
Yeah you’re right, he does represent them
this show is awful. while it was mildly interesting in season 1 it has become a joke.
Uhm, I donĀ“t think you watched one (1) episode since season 1 ended..
