How will Life on Mars end?

lifeonmars s1e2 How will Life on Mars end?

ABC’s Life on Mars ends its first and only season tonight, only giving us an hour’s worth of wrap-up to soak in. Will it be enough? Will we be satisfied? Do we care? I’m actually looking forward to it. I want to know what happens to Sam, what happens to the rest of the cast and what put Sam in this strange predicament in the first place.

So, let’s do a little poll here, below, for those few of you who still watch this show. What has caused Sam’s situation? I’ll list all of those that Sam wrote on the blackboard and mirror, along with a “something else” entry. Choose the top three most likely scenarios. I’d like to see how spot on or far off we all are once all is revealed.

What is Sam most likely going through? (choose 3)

  • Mind experiment (57%, 16 Votes)
  • Coma (50%, 14 Votes)
  • Virtual reality (25%, 7 Votes)
  • Brain Tumor (21%, 6 Votes)
  • Multi-dimentional travel (18%, 5 Votes)
  • Something else (post in comments) (14%, 4 Votes)
  • Time travel (14%, 4 Votes)
  • Heaven/Hell/Purgatory (11%, 3 Votes)
  • Insanity (7%, 2 Votes)
  • Drug trip (4%, 1 Votes)
  • Extraterrestrials (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Different planet (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 28

I voted for “something else” but have no clue what it could be. Unless the Dharma Initiative is involved somehow. I enjoyed the BBC series and I’m watching Ashes to Ashes. I don’t know why the US version wasn’t as well-received. I will look forward to hearing/reading what everyone has to say about it tomorrow.

Coma tied for first place with Mind Experiment even though we’ve been told this LOM doesn’t have Sam in the same situation? TV viewers really don’t pay very much attention to what they watch! :-)

Oh, just for the record I voted for “Time Travel”, “Mind Experiment” and “Virtual Reality”. I think VR is the winner, but I’d really like it to be Time Travel or Multi-Dimensional Travel.

Coma where Sam wakes up to today with the finale to the superior BBC version playing on the hospital TV.

That would be hilarious.

1) Purgatory, 2) Time Travel, 3) Sam and his entire world are just part of Annie’s dream.

Coma is very likely from the hints from earlier episodes. Many TV viewers don’t go looking for interviews or spoilers on the shows they watch.
