The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour – Webisode Clack

Did you know Volk of 'The Guild' has his own web series? Well, he's not Vork here, but Jeff Lewis being allowed to do his own thing is some pretty funny stuff.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (yes, I’m still talking about Comic-Con), I was able to catch a bit of the Celebrate the Web panels that were held off the beaten path, at the Bristol Hotel. Celebrate the Web was a set of panels showcasing old, new and upcoming web series, giving us some previews of upcoming webisodes and some Q&A with the cast and creators.

One series that we got a sneak peek of at the time was The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour. Jeff Lewis is most recognized these days as playing Vork in The Guild, and he’s made guest appearances on shows like Glee and has appeared in several commercials. See Jeff Lewis once and, chances are, you’re going to easily point him out next time you see his next acting bit.

The title of Lewis’ web series alone should give you a clue that this will be some funny stuff. As you might have guessed, each webisode lasts under five minutes and are presented in a comedy sketch format, each standing on its own. Lewis is a veteran of the ACME Comedy Theatre, so it stands to reason that sketch comedy is going to be his forte. There are no continuing storylines here. It’s just Jeff playing out in different, very funny roles, with the occasional special guest; one webisode features Felicia Day, for example.

The humor is definitely not going to be for everyone, much of it being I guess what you’d call crude. For example, the webisode embedded here is the one that was previewed to us at SDCC and got a lot of laughs — including from myself — but it’s got language that’s definitely NSFW and will probably disgust a few people. But y’know, lighten up.

So far there are five webisodes, the latest making its debut just the other day. The series is taking a hiatus for two weeks, and I have no doubt it will be back. The production is top notch, as is the acting. Lewis has created a show that further showcases his talents beyond what The Guild or commercials can show, and it’s definitely worth checking out for a few laughs.
