Saturday Night Live – Anne Hathaway / Florence + The Machine

Weathervanes of Oz, tamed camel toes, and a TSA sex service. A pleasantly decent 'SNL,' and we've got the clips here as soon as we get 'em!

- Season 36, Episode 7 - "Anne Hathaway / Florence + The Machine"

(Check back later Sunday morning for embedded videos of most of the skits below.)

Cold Open: The Rachel Maddow Show — Best quote: “Rachel, in closing, I just want to say I’m proud to live in a country where a man like Charlie Rangel can be a congressman, and a 12-year-old boy like yourself can have his own TV show.” Other than that, just the same ol’ cold open crap.

Monologue: Anne Hathaway — Way to see a movie I had no intention of ever seeing, huh?

TSA — This was simply awesome, given the latest new TSA guidelines I’ve been hearing nightmarish accounts of.

The Miley Cyrus Show — Sorry, but I’m just not liking Vanessa Bayer. She doesn’t have that long-lasting SNL cast member feel to me, though lately it seems she’s being given more screen time. I’m sick of her Miley Cyrus already. Anne Hathaway’s Katie Holmes, on the other hand, was simply awesome.

Soup Kitchen — Wiig’s Penelope was surprisingly not so bad this week — I didn’t feel all that sick of it. Maybe it’s the holidays coming making me feel nice? Actually, no, I think it’s Hathaway’s great acting so far.

Prince William Engagement — I love that Armisen was playing the Queen. Freakin’ hilarious!

Musical Guest: Florence + The Machine — Not really a whole lot to say about this band. It’s either your thing or it’s not. Damn, though — those are some long legs!

Weekend Update — Moynihan does one hell of a Guy Fieri, I tell ya. A chicken, inside of a duck, inside of a turkey, inside of a rabbit, inside of a pig, inside of a baby cow, inside of a big cow, inside of a horse, all stuffed into a cornish game hen. A turduckenrabpigcowcowhorsnish game hen. Yum!

Wizard of Oz Weathervane — I have to hand it to SNL — they really did a great job on the wardrobe and makeup on this sketch! And, it was pretty funny to boot.

Herb Welch, News Reporter — Kinda a throw-away quick skit. The fake death at the end saved it.

Mega-Mart Black Friday — This one reminded me of the Kick Spit concert commercials SNL’s done before, and they’re all hilarious.

Camel Tame — Meh, I felt like it could’ve been funnier. Now what about taking care of moose knuckle?

Horse Play — Holy shit, Andy Samberg needs to play Robert Smith again and again and again! I forgot about how stupid the rest of the sketch was after seeing him.

Anne Hathaway is just awesome when she’s on SNL. She seems to be the only one NOT using the cue cards. She actually looks at the other actors when she speaks instead of slightly off camera to read the lines. Her Katie Holmes was fabulous! And she has a great voice too. I loved the Mary Poppins piece they did last time she was on, and The Wizard of Oz was pretty good too. She really should get an Emmy nomination, and as long as Betty White doesn’t host again, she should win!

I couldn’t tell who did the Tin Man, but his impression was spot on. Hathaway’s Judy Garland was awesome, too.

One of the best episodes of this season so far. Anne Hathaway is just a freakin’ great host, but I think the crew should stop with Miley Cyrus.
