Always Sunny – Hurricane Paddy hits

Inspired by Hurricane Irene (I suspect), the writers throw Paddy's Pub in the middle of a huge storm. Plus, Charlie gets a hatchet.

- Season 7, Episode 6 - "The Storm of the Century"

Once again, the gang proves they aren’t the people to listen to during an emergency. Between their kidnapping and the potential hurricane, they come off pretty foolish, don’t they? This isn’t confirmed, but I have a feeling this episode was written towards the end of August when Hurricane Irene hit Philly. Honestly, I’m not sure this episode could have gone to air if the storm had been as bad as predicted.

It’s rare that I agree with Frank, but he actually made some good points about media sensation during emergencies. Of course, we also find out he’s more than willing to loot and riot during such emergencies, but at least he’s honest about it. He’s also the only person who wants to bring Cricket to the hospital after he got shot. How is it that Frank is making sense?

Dennis is once again so very, very creepy. Having women sign a contract promising they’ll “cooperate” is one step away from just flat out using cloroform.`The reason this scummy character works on the show is 1). he’s in complete denial of his creeper tendencies 2). his friends often call him out on this stuff and 3). it often backfires on him, as it did with the volumptuous reporter this week. If any Dennis focused episode ends with him

This episode was pretty funny, but I saw the ending coming from practically the cold open. Interestingly enough, the next episode (Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games)  is about a rainy day of board games in for the gang, so maybe the storm hasn’t passed by quite yet.

All the best quotes:
“The breasts make you care about the weather in a really good way.” — Charlie about the weather lady

“Do you think girls will want to come back to a bar with a man dress the way you’re dressed and carrying a hatchet?” — Dennis
“Yeah. They’re going to be like, ‘Look at this sweet dude with his awesome gear and his awesome hatchet. He’s prepared — he’s ready for anything! Storm coming? Hatchet coming!'” — Charlie

“Charlie, I might be in love with this woman … not for the right reasons, mind you.” — Dennis
