Dexter – Intern Puppydog has skills

Eight episodes in and only a few more to go, and did we see another person acknowledge the physical presence of Prof. Gellar besides Travis? Did Dexter actually see Gellar? Double nope.

- Season 6, Episode 8 - "Sins of Omission"

At this point, I can’t help but simply assume the theory about Gellar not being “real” is no longer a theory; I’d say it’s pretty much a certainty. As each episode goes by, I look closely for some clue that will call that theory into question. Instead, each new episode only serves to support it. In a way, it’s a bit of a drag to know what’s apparently supposed to be a big reveal for the season. It’s like a spoiler, but it’s not. Very strange.

At the end of the last episode, I was very close to adding Travis’s sister as a possible “head person” like Gellar, but it was going to be a huge stretch. She had interacted with the kids in her class, which I could have waved off as something where the kids were actually talking to Travis. Obviously that turned out not to be the case, and I’m glad, because that really would have been a stretch to explain. With his sister gone, though, will Travis be confiding in Dexter all of what he knows of Gellar, or will Gellar simply take over and try to take Dexter out? I also wonder how Travis’s parents died, as that was mentioned a couple of times already. Is it significant?

There still has to be room here for some sort of world-ending (or, at least, Miami-ending) event that Travis/Gellar (Tellar? Gravis?) has planned. This is one area I really don’t have a good guess for. I doubt it’d be something akin to a bomb. More than likely it’s a water-supply poisoning or viral outbreak, though where he’d get hold of something like that is where I’m puzzled. Anyone have theories about this?

Why did Gellar attach Deb’s business card to Travis’s sister’s crime scene? My thought is it was merely meant as a way to have the police track down Travis (a cry for help?). It also served to prove that Travis is Gellar, in that we know Travis saw Deb approach the house, but we did not see Gellar do so.

LaGuerta is continuing her slide down deeper into slime. She’s always been an ornery bitch (God, remember when she was hitting on Dexter in season one?!), but this season she not only bribed her way into the role of Captain, but she’s clearly now covering up Captain Matthew’s mess with the dead hooker. It’s pretty clear it was him she was looking out for, but I wonder why she’d bother. What does Matthews have over LaGuerta that would make her want to help him out in any way?

I’m still keeping an eye on that new intern of Masuka’s. He’s getting too close to Dexter, and I would not put it past things this season for him to wind up a new foil for Dexter next season. Maybe he snoops out Dexter’s bloody slid collection while he’s in his apartment? Finds his knives? “Intern Puppydog” indeed.

(NOTE: For those looking for information on the Eliot Search Engine, it just points to the official Showtime Masuka Intern Program page on Facebook.)

“I need everyone’s asses on the fucking ball.” – Deb
“I’m going to keep rearranging that sentence to make it hotter.” – Vince
“That’s … still my sister.” – Dexter

“I’ll fuck Masuka if this isn’t our guy.” – Deb
“Sounds like you’re getting close!” – Dexter

I knew that pen would show up somehow. I think Deb may find out about the murder of that weed growing guy. Loved her line about Masuka!

I can’t wait to see the look on Dexter’s face when he finds out Gellar does not exist.

Do you remember the name of motel owner? It was Norm. A bit like Norman Bates, isn’t it?

Intern Puppydog will probably snoop around on Dexter’s comp, and put 2 and 2 together. What he does with the info he finds is anyone’s guess. All I know for sure is… I’ll be watching!

i am here because of Dexter. so what’s the deal?

How certain are we that LaGuerta is covering for Matthews? It seems they’d be upfront about that and show him threatening her, or just telling Deb to close the case directly since he has a good rapport with her – I smell a potential surprise there when we find out who was on the other end of that phone call.

I certainly agree Travis is using Gellar as a Dark passenger. Each episode plays more and more on this. As his end game, I too am still trying to determine this. There has been no evidence as to what the END is. LaGuerta’s situation is questionable. I can only think of Matthews as we haven’t been introduced to any other character that would cause us to say “Oh Wow! Didn’t see that coming.” Her last conversation on the phone indicates it is someone who holds some authority over her as she wasn’t her snotty self. She was on the defensive. We only see her act this way around Matthews.

The focus on Deb’s struggle with her relationship with Dexter leads me to believe they may be setting up for her to discover Dexter’s secret as she does in the novels.

And what is the deal with Quinn? We are seeing a lot of him drunk beyond control and doing some stupid things. Is this setting up for some dramatic culmination? Will he drunkenly do something that seriously impacts one of the main characters?

Puppydog will definitely become a problem later on. He will accidentally stumble upon some of Dexter’s secrets while doing his ‘investigation’ for his game. I’ve tossed around the idea that it may be this discovery that will tie into Deb finally learning the truth about Dexter.

I see many of you speculate that LaGuerta is covering for Matthews, but the only one starting too loose control is Quinn. I have no ide how he could hold anything over her, but he is smoking weed, picking up new girls and drinking a lot. Then on the other hand… Angel seems to go throug a midlife-crises…
New TransAm and weed in the car… And he used to be married to LaGuerta…

Just an thought…

Gellar is Travis’ dark passenger. He is not real, infact he never talked to anybody, and nobody talked to him

he’s not body-real: he is like Dexter’s father. Travis i skilling the people pretending it’s Gellar

November 23, 2011 at 9:29 AM

Gellar isnt the dark passenger, theory fits except for the fact that the girl who was released said there were two guys keeping her prisonner.

November 23, 2011 at 9:49 AM

She never saw them. Only heard their voices. Travis can alter his when “he is” Gellar…

November 23, 2011 at 10:12 AM

He was also College teacher, so he is real..

November 23, 2011 at 10:14 AM

He is real, but he also could be a figment of Travis imagination just like Dexters dad and brother…

November 23, 2011 at 9:35 PM

He was a college professor and the girl Quinn slept with was one of his former students. He isn’t a figment of Travis’ imagination.

November 24, 2011 at 4:10 AM

He was a collegeteacher then, but what if he died somehow and lives on only in Travis mind just like Dexters dad and brother. They both used to be real…

November 26, 2011 at 11:53 PM

So…. If Gellar doesn’t exist, how did Travis get chained to the floor? And branded? Still digesting this theory.. not sure I am convinced yet…

November 27, 2011 at 5:06 AM

not to hard to chain your own wrists. Although I’m not completely sold on the Geller being a figment of his imagination, although each week it seems to fit better. Geller hitting Travis with a shovel threw me a bit, but then perhaps the scene the week before where dexters brother picks up the bag of body parts and throws it overboard for him could be a subtle device to show those minor physical interactions are plausible.

November 27, 2011 at 9:46 AM

Branding himself while he is chained?

November 27, 2011 at 9:20 PM

Remember Fight Club? The Brad Pitt character did heaps including shagging Helen Bonham Carter and he was imaginary.

November 28, 2011 at 7:55 AM

Travis used name Gellar when he was teaching at the Uni? as a second personality, could have included a career. Did the chick who posed for ‘Gellar’ describe him when she was questioned?

November 28, 2011 at 2:51 PM

Am I the only one who sees the clues. Intern puppydog IS somehow related to dexter through ol’ Brian Moser aka the ice truck killer aka Dexs brother. His “game” is a clever roos to get closer to Dex. This is the only explanation to the reason he has an affection for Dex, he is smart and cunning (runs in the family), kinna looks like brother Brian & Dex, and as shown in last nights episode has a very serial killerish apartment topped off with a full wall painting of a face that resembles Dex and brians mother and the Ice truck killers fingernail painted hand in a display case. I rest my case

November 29, 2011 at 1:31 PM

I remember (sorry for the expression) the “whore” saying that she heard the voices of two men: one older and one youger… Was Travis faking even Gellar’s voice ??

December 1, 2011 at 12:17 AM

he left the business card there because travis wanted deb to know that she was responsible for killing his sister. he doesn’t want to admit that he did it himself and the fact that deb questioned her put him in danger of being caught. subconsciousness at work i suppose.

Eliot Search Engine might not be real, but the search engine Dexter uses in the show, Netrangler, is real
