Yeah, so I dig LEGOs. Oh, quiet — you like ‘em too. But with a now seven-year-old in the house, it’s LEGOs, LEGOs everywhere. And, of course, there are these Ninjago LEGOs around. Thankfully we aren’t talking about a knee-high stack of Spinjitzu game cards around, but there’s enough of the other stuff. So when it was revealed that there was a new Ninjago animated series on Cartoon Network,we naturally let our son watch the first episode. Then we thoughtfully neglected to let him in on the fact that it was a series and that there were more episodes. What? It’s just a big commercial, right?
As part of this new series, the LEGO folks are building up the mystery of who this fifth, green-clothed ninja will be. Sensei Wu — the leader of the Ninjago gang — made mention in the show’s pilot episode that someone would “rise up to become the green ninja.” Of course, each of the ninja boys — Cole, Jay, Kai and Zane — think they are going to be that person, because supposedly that green ninja will be more powerful in some way.
To be honest, I don’t really care who the green ninja is or really anything about him. But as I dug around a little for the heck of it, I became a bit intrigued.
I brought up the green ninja thing to my son and asked him who he thought it’d be; he said Zane. Huh, not someone new? Then he told me one of his friends thought it’d be Jay. After some Googling, I found that it was pretty even across the board on opinions of who the green ninja would be, if it was in fact going to be one of the existing ninjas. Most, however, seem to think the green ninja is going to turn out to be Lloyd Garmadon, son to the Ninjago arch enemy, Lord Garmadon.
There’s some decent supporting evidence I’ve found as to why Lloyd Garmadon would be the green ninja, even if he is completely against the ninja at this point and is son to an evil dude. He wears a green number 5 on his shirt, for one, and he’s Sensei Wu’s nephew. There are sites that show new toys coming out this summer that indicate a “Lloyd DX” spinner, where Lloyd is wearing green regalia, but I haven’t found a clear enough image to prove that to be entirely true. The unofficial LEGO wiki “Brikipedia” also comes right out and indicates “it has been confirmed that he will become the Green Ninja,” but it is not cited.
The one clue as to who the green ninja is not, however, is in the character’s eyebrows. Yes, eyebrows. If you look at the official image above, and then look at pictures of each of the other Ninjago characters, none of them match those above. However, there are two people who do. One is Lloyd Garmadon; the other: Nya.
It’s unlikely the green ninja is Nya, Kai’s sister, mostly because she has eyelashes that don’t appear in the image above. Also, there’s note she’s a new character called “Samurai X,” though I know nothing about that. However, I argue she’s the most deserving character of the bunch. She’s proven she has adequate skills, is already good-natured, and is a much-needed female addition to the official “stars” of the Ninjago sets. My son was telling me that a girl friend of his didn’t play with Ninjago because “they’re boy toys.” Wouldn’t it be in LEGO’s best interest to make Nya an official ninja, like she deserves to be?

My oldest is 7 as well and we are all LEGO all the time over here. We are very much enjoying the new series. Always enjoy the humor in the LEGO shows.
My son is certain Jay will be the green ninja. Your evidence for Lloyd is very compelling and I tend to agree. In one of the latest LEGO catalogs the description for one of the sets indicates that the ninjas and Lloyd are working together to defeat the snake tribes.
My guess is that each snake tribe is going to toss Lloyd aside as the first tribe did and he will continue to look for the others until all 4 tribes have been released. Then he will see the error in his ways and ask the ninjas for help. It is then he will become the green ninja.
Each week my son says, “THIS is the week we will find out who the green ninja is!”
I’m afraid we won’t until close to the end of the season.

I’s pretty obvious that Lloyd will become the green ninja. In the fourth episode, which is set to air on February 1, Lloyd is taken back to the headquarters by Sensei Wu, and chooses to quit being a “bad boy”.

TV shows about fighting hardly EVER have female main heroes that are the main focus, and the way it looks right now, the green ninjas gonna be the one to “defeat the big bad guy and save the day” so Nya won’t be it. And Jay already has an interest with the female character so they won’t make him the green ninja because then there will be too much attention on him, and not the other ninjas. Kai might be the green ninja because most shows have the guy who uses fire as the main character, but from the way he acts he also might not. Zane is too serious and smart with special skills and talents, so it’s not likely he will be the green ninja, or like Jay would be if he was, there’d be too much focus on him. Cole is a special case. From what I’ve heard, he’s the leader of the ninjas, and the leader is never the strongest, so I doubt he will be. Now, as for Lloyd, he does seem to be the green ninja, but there’s also height to consider, and the color of skin. On the commercial, the green ninja has a tannish orange skin. Still, from reading what you’ve said, I’m almost positive the green ninja is in fact Lloyd.

I completely agree with the OP and vote for Nya. She’s the only one who really makes sense to me. That, or Lloyd. I don’t seem them actually changing the group they have now for the green ninja so I doubt any of the four current ninjas will become it. As for Nya versus Lloyd, Nya deserves it far more but with the development of her being Samurai X I could see Lloyd becoming it to create the tension of the son of the enemy being the ultimate hero, much like Luke Skywalker was the jedi to finally defeat Anakin.

A small feature is that you can move the top lime green piece to give him the appearance it had in the TV show. I agree and disagree with many of what everyone says. The Green Ninja is supposed to air tonight, wedsnesday march 21 2012. Now, seeing as everyone but Kai has “true potentialness” going on, leaves the speculation to Kai to convert, however none of the 4 have the eyebrows to match aside Zane and he’s a robot so he’s automatically out of the race. My 4 yr old daughter feels Kai is the green ninja and she has a good reason to think that with the fire hands and what not, Nya has eyelashes so… she is probably out even though the marketing department of Lego Ninjago is probably pushing for her to be the green ninja. Lloyd has the eyebrows and the hieght can be manipulated as it is a cartoon and there’s nothing to say he can’t grow being a kid in all. Cole has bushy eyebrows, Kai has a cut in his eyebrow, as does Jay, Zane is a robot, probably Lloyd, will know tonight though.

I am sorry, but if there’s one thing that bug’s me it is when people say it’s Lloyd because of a feature.all theories of the features have been proven false, but when he’s a teen in another theory (check my other comment) he will be a teen so maybe he will have longer eyebrows just sayin.

no it’s Lloyd I saw the episode in the Korean site as much as I wanted it to be Kai it is Lloyd.There is a rumor stating that a new spinner will come out called Lloyd ZX where he will be in the Green Ninja suit. Also in another rumor/myth/theory/season Lloyd will become older A.K.A teen and fit in the suit I don’t know if he fights his dad though ,but I am checking. :)
I thought that the green ninja would be Zane. In his dream in episode 4, the green ninja had the same eyes and bird as Zane. In addition, Lloyd isn’t a ninja, I thought that only Kai, Jay, Zane or Cole could become the green ninja.
