Poll: Favorite Brit playing Brit on US TV

Jack Davenport is the main reason I watch 'Smash.' But he isn't the only hot Brit playing a Brit on US TV. Who is YOUR favorite hot US TV Brit?

Who do you believe is the hottest British actor playing a Brit on US TV in the past year?

After watching TV on NBC last week with Smash and The Office, I realized we’ve had more British (and Australian) actors on US TV in the past 5 years. And, in January 2011-January 2012, we’ve had more Brits playing Brits.

So, who is the hottest British actor playing a Brit on US TV (for shows still on the air)? Although I wish I could nominate Idris Elba, he played an American on The Office. Although I wish I could nominate Anthony Stewart Head for Free Agents or Indira Varma for Human Target. Free Agents is a free agent and Human Target was shot down.

However, both Jack Davenport and Raza Jaffrey (Smash) are top contenders as well as Stephen Fry‘s Bones cameos and Catherine Tate‘s Office guest spots. Heck, while I’m at it, why not nominate Ricky Gervais for his Office cameo and Golden Globes hosting? Comedy’s the new sexy, right?

So I sent out a call to my clackers, detailing my above listed love of Jack Davenport, and to figure out who they viewed as the sexiest Brit playing a Brit on US TV.

An: So, who is your vote for sexiest Brit currently on US TV … PLAYING a Brit?

Brittany: Oh, I’ve been on the Jack Davenport train since 1998. He was my high school crush, to the bewilderment of many. And he is that gorgeous in person.

An: You know. He never did it for me until Smash. UltraViolet? Nada. Coupling? Nothing. Pirates of the Carribbean? Bleh. The Wedding Date? No, thank you.

But, SMASH? OOOH. Yes, please with a side of chocolate dipping sauce!

You say you’ve met him in reality? Do dish!

Brittany: I’ve met him twice. Once when I was working on FlashForward, and then just recently for Smash.

He’s gorgeous. And very, very funny in that deadpan British sort of way. What really got me, though, was that this last time, he remembered me from our first meeting … a whopping two years ago. I was really surprised by that.

Carla: Parminder Nagra from Alcatraz. But, now that I think about it not sure if she plays a Brit or not.

Rachel: There’s an actor named Julian Morris who plays Wren on Pretty Little Liars. I don’t think he’s that hot, but he probably has a huge following. Apparently he was also in 24 and E.R., but I haven’t watched him in either of those so I don’t know if he played a Brit or an American in those shows.

So, WHO is your favorite? Vote! Or write it in the comments below.

P.S. I’m going to add Tony Head and Indira Varma as special guest stars.

P.P.S. NBC/Smash producers, if you find yourselves filming scenes in Manhattan and want to invite a couple new media bloggers down … you have my number!

Poll Expires Midnight on Sunday, March 4 EST, and you can vote once a day until then.

One of my great disappointments of the 2011-2012 season is that Free Agents was canceled so quickly. I think people ignored it for the bawdy premise without realizing it really was a hilarious workplace comedy with two characters coming to grips with the terrible turns life had taken and realizing they’re perfect for each other.

And how did I not recognize Jack Davenport on Smash was from the POTC movies?
