Legend of Korra’s Amon and his wacky identities – CartoonClack

Amon's face might be a secret to Team Avatar, but let's take a look at the more ... 'interesting' hypotheses about the 'Legend of Korra' antagonist's true identity.

This upcoming Saturday marks the finale of the first season of Legend of Korra. It looks like the Equalist storyline could very well be resolved in the finale, which means we might just learn who Amon really is. One of the more … unique, shall we say, theories on Amon’s identity is that he’s actually Aang, the only other person known to take someone’s bending away. Because it makes perfect sense; it’s not like Aang is a bender himself or a pacifist or dead or reincarnated into a Water Tribe girl. So, let’s go over the other perfectly rational guesses for Amon’s real identity.

Equalist Rally Leader
Let’s forget that the rally leader is ranting and emotional while Amon is calm and calculating. They both hate benders and both are a part of the Equalists, right? And we’ve never seen them in the same room, right? It’s a perfect match! I imagine Team Avatar pulling off Amon’s mask and Mako (in an ascot) saying, “It was the Equalist Rally Leader the whole time!”

Tarrlok’s Assistant
Tarrlok’s assistant gained some fans a couple episodes ago when he was brave and revealed his boss’ true nature to the other members of the counsel. We also saw him in this week’s episode informing Tenzin of the other council members’ kidnappings. But perhaps this was all a ruse to hide his real identity! Forget the fact that he’s much shorter than Amon, acts timidly and has helped our heroes … that’s all irrelevant.

Katara
Hey, we know she can blood bend, so it makes sense that she can stop Tarrlok’s blood bending too, right? It doesn’t matter that she’s elderly and a bender herself and this goes against her entire persona. We haven’t seen the elderly waterbender since the pilot, so what has she been doing? Planning a revolution, of course!

Gommu the Hobo
A classic hobo trope, this guy shared in Korra’s fish lunch in the pilot, telling her about the problems in Republic City and literally diving into the bushes, never to be seen again … probably because he was too busy starting a extremist revolution! The hobo act was just to size up Korra on her first day, duh.

Pro-Bending Announcer
That’s right — the narrator of the whole series is actually the bad guy. Who would have seen that coming? This writer, that’s who — how do you think he knows so much about the plot! Remember when he got knocked out during the pro-bending match? That was just a red herring, my friend. All to distract from his true identity as the leader of the Equalists.

Pabu
Do not let his sweet disposition fool you. Mako and Bolin’s fire ferret is actually cruel, calculating and focused on destroying bending once and for all. Look at his picture and just try to tell me that’s not the face of a sinister mastermind. Pabu was also mysteriously absent from Team Avatar’s escape from the island. Perhaps that was because he was actually in the dirigible himself?!

These are clearly the most obvious choices for Amon’s true identity. Do you have any totally credible guesses about Amon like the ones above? Put them in the comments below!

I’ve always felt Pabu is deeply sinister.

Been Jossed already, but for the longest time I was convinced Amon was actually Koh the Face Stealer.
