Teen Wolf – Kanima’s master revealed

'Teen Wolf' was packed with surprises including a hunter's death, a returning wolf and the reveal of the Kanima's master.

- Season 2, Episode 9 - "Party Guessed"

Teen Wolf ‘s “Party Guessed” was a pivotal episode of the season with secrets revealed, a death, and a reawakening. I’m not sure which surprised me the most, but it was probably the return of Peter. The return of the former Alpha is sure to shake things up and not in a positive way.

It’s Lydia’s birthday and the crew eventually all showed up to her big party, where she served tainted punch. Based on TV shows, no one should ever drink the punch. Yeah, I know life isn’t a TV show and that’s why we all drink the tasty punch. It appeared to be laced with Wolfsbane, but the purpose of that was never really made clear. We have seen what Wolfsbane does to wolves, but was it also responsible for the hallucinations? That’s my best guess. I wish the cause of the hallucinations had been better explained.

Jackson saw his real parents, though faceless, which turned him faceless, as well. Scott saw Jackson and Allison hooking up. Stiles had the most heartbreaking vision of his father showing up drunk and blaming Stiles for his mother’s death and his father’s troubles. And, then there was Allison who shot herself with an arrow. Will these fears be further demonstrated in these teens’ lives?

For now, they each have bigger issues. Mama Argent with the help of her husband killed herself. Given she belongs to a family of hunters, it only makes sense. She wouldn’t want to be a wolf. But, I have a huge problem with her not saying goodbye or at least having a mother-daughter moment with Allison before she killed herself. Yes, she tried and Allison blew her off, but Allison just thought it was another day. Victoria made the wrong choice in that moment leaving her daughter to suffer the consequences.

I expected the stand out moment to be the reveal of the Kanima’s master, but it was overshadowed by Victoria’s death and Peter’s return. Were you surprised that Jackson’s master is Matt? He was definitely someone that I considered, but the pieces were missing to tie him to the killings.

We learned that those killed were part of Coach Isaac’s 2006 swim team and we knew that the Kanima was afraid of water. At the party, Matt nearly drowned in the pool showing that he wasn’t able to swim. Is this revenge over some teasing by the swim team? I’d hope there is more to Matt’s revenge than that and given Teen Wolf’s history, I’m guessing there is more to the story.

Where does the story go from here? Will Allison blame Derek and his pack for her mother’s death? And, where will that leave her and Scott? I’m guessing their relationship is going to be on the outs for a while at least.

Derek mentioned that an Alpha doesn’t always remain an Alpha, so what does the return of Peter mean? Will he reclaim his role as the Alpha, become an Omega, or will he even still be a wolf?

Now that Matt has been outed as the one controlling Jackson, what will happen? If he dies, will Jackson revert back to being himself? Or, is he forever burdened with being a Kamina?

These three separate storylines should provide plenty to cover over the remaining three episodes this season. Thankfully, Teen Wolf has been renewed for a third season of 24 episodes.

with the return of Peter here is something that not everyone will put together. i watch every episode 2 times. once to enjoy, the second to analyze. In season one Derek tells Scott the only way to be cured is to kill the one that bit you. Derek killed Peter the 1st time so he became the alpha. But now with Peter reborn this could possibly give Scott another chance to cure himself. That is what season 3 will probably be centered around. Scott and Dereks wolf Pack trying to find and kill Peters pack.
