What’s funnyman Jamie Kennedy up to now? – Interview

Remember Jamie Kennedy? It's impossible to forget the comedian considering how funny he is. As the host of a new game show and a few projects in development, it seems Kennedy is still hard at work. However, is there any chance we'll see the return of 'The Jamie Kennedy Experiment?'

Being funny seems to be nothing more than an utter reflex for Jamie Kennedy. Why wouldn’t it? After all, he’s been in the business for years appearing in a slew of sitcoms and funny movies such as Bowfinger, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and Malibu’s Most Wanted, and even doing voice work on FOX’s animated hit The Cleveland Show. As an actor and comedian, Kennedy has certainly made a name for himself in Hollywood and has practically done it all. Now it seems he can add another title to his list of growing credentials — game show host. I was blessed to be able to catch up with Kennedy to ask him about his new project for The CW and whether or not there will be a revival of the show that arguably made him a star — The Jamie Kennedy Experiment!

Alright, Mr. Kennedy. Let’s get this show on the road. Tell me about your new game show airing on The CW — Oh Sit!

Oh Sit! is basically musical chairs on crack. It’s musical chairs meets a Japanese game show meets Wipe Out meets inter-sexual contestants … meaning men and women are competing against each other. It’s the only show that does it. There’s comedy [and] a lot of laughs. It has accidents and straight music. That’s basically what it is.

There are a lot of game shows on TV right now. I’ve always preferred Family Feud. That freakin’ theme song never leaves my head! Give me a list of reasons why Oh Sit! is different from the competition.

[One reason] is that it’s the only game show on television that has men and women competing … against each other. The next [reason] is that they’re really good looking! It’s the only game show that has your childhood game, your childhood memory of musical chairs … [it’s] a game show about a game we all grew up playing. There’s no Pin The Tail On The Donkey show, right?

You know what? I don’t believe there is. So, you’re no stranger to The CW having produced the 2005 Fran Dreshcer sitcom Living with Fran for The WB along with hosting your hidden camera comedy show, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. How does it feel to be working with the network again?

I love it! It’s very close to my heart. I’m back on The C-Dub! I think they’re great.

You were hilarious in Malibu’s Most Wanted! I just saw you in Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds. Great movie! Do you have any new television shows or movies coming down the pipeline?

At the moment I’m working on developing a show … nothing that I can talk about yet, but I have a lot in development.

Understandable. You’ve been blessed to work in both television and film — but which do you prefer?

Hmm … I don’t know. I love them both really. Quite frankly, I think that TV is more [of an] instant gratification, but film is something that can make a lasting impression. I don’t know. They’re both great.

Must be nice. So, have you always wanted to be an entertainer, Mr. Kennedy?

Since I was about fifteen. I was sixteen and I used to work at Domino’s Pizza, and sometimes I wasn’t really good at getting the pizza there on time and my boss was always hollering at me. He was always like, “You think you’re gonna play around! Do something funny! Be comedian! If you want to be funny, go be funny somewhere else — not as pizza chef!” I thought, “Oh, okay. Maybe I should do that.” I wasn’t good at pizza delivery.

At least you’re honest. Tell me — what’s something about you that others don’t know?

Hmmm … something fun? I’m a very good bowler and a very good putt-putter. I can bowl over 200 and play a course in under 34.

Well, look at you! I guess Tiger Woods better watch his back. Okay, let’s get back on track. Is this your first time being a game show host?

Yes it is. Very first time. [I’m] having a ball. It’s been great. The CW’s been awesome. This is the last thing in entertainment that I haven’t done and I’m enjoying doing it.

I bet! So, what about The Jamie Kennedy Experiment? My folks and I used to watch that show when I was back in high school. Is there any chance that we’ll see the return and revival of it?

A lot of people are asking me that! I think we can start a campaign! Why not? Right?

Why not is right! I agree wholeheartedly!

I like that! Spread the word! Spread it in this interview!

Consider it done, sir. Consider it done!

Oh Sit! airs on The CW network on Wednesday nights at 8/7c. For more information on Jamie Kennedy and the game show, visit cwtv.com.

Nice short, conversational interview. They should call this Clackin’ Tidbits with Jay. lol. Anyway, Jamie Kennedy is cool. Although I haven’t seen him much lately in anything—or maybe I have and I just didn’t recognize him, but now that I think about it, Jamie has always been busy on the scene. Not too too long ago, he had that show on MTV I think, called Blowin’ up with Jamie and Stu! I thought that was hilarious as he was was trying hard to become a rapper unlike the character from his hit movie. And then he actually came out with an album from that show–and it was funny like a Lonely Island ahead of its time. The Jamie Kennedy eXperiment was funny–like a Punk’d after its time. Sheesh. And Oh, Sit! sounds a bit…different. I will not be tuning in though, but hey, make ya money, playa.

I use to watch Jamie Kennedy in his hillarious show called The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. He was sooooooo funny. I fondly remember the espisode where he kept calling his supposedly son a punk because he could not play sports. This was funny; however, it was not too funny to the on lookers. They came to the rescue of the little boy. I am looking forward to seeing his new game show and I am sure there will be laughs!!! Welcome back Jamie to television. I have missed you.

Good interview Jay.

Hey, I remember that episode! They were with football players, but I can’t remember the team that they played for. They were pretty ticked off at Jamie for dogging his ‘kid’ out in front of them. That was hilarious!

Nice to read ya doing more than just CiC, Jaylen. But, Jamie Kennedy doing a game show based on musical chairs? Makes me wish Doc Brown and Marty would swing by to help change this odd future I’m in. And did ya notice that the Dr.Who crew arrived in DeLoreans to the NYC premiere?

I’m afraid I missed the NY premiere of Doctor Who, but I love the fact that they arrived in Deloreons! That’s awesome! As for Jamie, I’m glad to know that he’s still working. He was very kind and very funny when I was interviewing him. You should check the show out… he wasn’t lying when he said it was like musical chairs on crack! :-)
