Oh no, you missed National Candy Month!

candymix

Yup, January was National Candy Month. Looks like we pretty much missed it, but there’s still a few hours left in the month so there’s a way to salvage it.

Eat as much candy this weekend as you possibly can. Don’t even think about eating regular “meals” or vegetables or cereals or fruit or dairy. Just load up on chocolate, gumballs, candy bars, Jawbreakers, and fun-sized peanut butter cups and munch away.

I’m a big fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. And since they haven’t been named in this horrifying recall that’s going on right now you can actually still enjoy them. I’m also a lover of retro candy, all those cool things you can’t find in your local supermarket anymore but can find on the web. The sites that I’m aware of are Sweet Nostalgia and Hometown Favorites. These sites have a ton of candy going back to the ’50s all the way up to regional candies of today. I don’t know if you can find Marathon Bars anymore, but I bet they make something similar.

In honor of this month, I’m going to order some retro candy. Sure, I won’t get it until February, when National Candy Month is over, but candy is great any month.

What kind of retro candy did you order?

I sure wish you’d warned me earlier that January was National Candy month. I’d have celebrated. I am buying some candy this week, but it’s going to school for a party. Bummer.

Haven’t decided yet. But every month is National Candy Month for me.
