When you think of CNN, images of cooking and recipes normally don’t come to mind. Unless you despise the network and feel that its news coverage is a recipe for Socialism. However, in these times of economic downturn, even the oldest cable news network is turning to other avenues to gain fans.
On the network’s website, under its user-generated “i Report” section, they are offering ten, um, recess-ipes (their word, not mine) for $10 or less. They range from soups to vegetarian to meats to simple macaroni with a pork team-up of sausage and bacon. Each recipe is accompanied with a pleasant photo of the meal, serving sizes, and comments by readers who have tried it out.
Personally, the meals that look the most tempting are the breaded fish cutlets made with tilapia, ginger, green chilies and cilantro; and the beef and barley soup, which can be made either with ground beef or vegetarian with kidney and navy beans. I’m also intrigued by the bacon, eggs and pasta meal, but I felt my arteries hardening as I read the ingredients and saw the picture.
