Do people still eat grapefruit for breakfast?

grapefruitsDid you have grapefruit this morning?

This may seem like an odd question, but it’s National Grapefruit Month and I was thinking about it, and I don’t think I’ve had an actual grapefruit for breakfast (or lunch, dinner, or snack either) in over a decade. Maybe even a couple of decades. Part of this is because I’m not a big breakfast eater anyway, but another part of it is because when I do breakfast I want something quick and easy. I don’t want to stand there at the counter cutting a grapefruit in half and then cutting all of the little sections too. It was always a hassle for me, cutting all those sections, and I hated the stickiness associated with it too.

So now I get my grapefruit in juice form. Usually from Ocean Spray Ruby Red Lite, which has become one of my main, daily drinks during the summer. Which brings me to another point: why the heck is National Grapefruit Month celebrated in the winter? I think I read somewhere that citrus fruits are actually at their peak in the winter months, but they always mean spring and summer to me. Anyway, here’s a bunch of grapefruit recipes from Food Network, including salads, cakes, sorbets, sauces, and cocktails.
