CW, that small percentage was enough to help send my Senior troop to England (Pax Lodge) and Scotland for 2 weeks when they graduated from High School. We seemed to do a LOT with what we made from the cookie sale.

Yes, but the Council gets an additional amount to provide programs and run camps, provide financial aid for low income girls, “camperships”, etc.

Unfortunately, only a small percentage of the money(12-17%) goes back to the actual troop which sold the cookies.

There are 2 bakers who make Girl Scout cookies. They’re basically the same cookie, but each bakery gives the cookies their own names. Thin Mints will always be called Thin Mints though.

I buy Girl Scout cookies ever year (“Samoas” & “Thin Mints”) and even if I baked my own (unlikely) I wouldn’t break what has become a tradition. I admire the girls and their Moms who have the unfortunate task of asking strangers to buy the cookies. They never know what sort of yahoo they’ll encounter. I put on a smile, say how glad I am to see them selling my yearly treat and how much I appreciate the Moms working with them. Ever encounter ends in smiles and me 1 to 2 boxes richer. And why is it they don’t call them “Samoas” any more?
