Oh, NBC…does someone have their thinking cap on over in the programming department? They must, because they made a change to the schedule that actually makes sense. Not only that, but they decided to return to a gimmick that has worked for them for nearly two decades now — a theme night. You have Must See Thursdays, Really Should Watch Mondays (but you’re not because there is so much else on TV), and now there is Crime Night Wednesdays.
Starting on November 5th, Charlie Crews and his friends on Life (which presented a fantastic episode this week) will be moving to 9 p.m. It will be slotted between the new version of Knight Rider (recently picked up for a full season) and the return of the original Law & Order, which is beginning its 19th season. Jumping over to Fridays at 10 p.m. will be the under-performing Lipstick Jungle.
For now, this is a good move. The only direct competition I can see right now for the show would be Criminal Minds on CBS. Yes, Private Practice could take some of the audience away as well, but that show is for a different crowd than Life. The biggest challenge to the show will come in January when the juggernaut known as American Idol rears its ugly head once again.
That will be three different nights for this show already. (that has to be a bad sign, how are the ratings?) The one show I don’t miss on NBC and they keep bouncing it.
Fantastic episode? I thought this was the worst episode of the series. The earthquake, no mention of the overall conspiracy and the horrid forced kiss at the end.
Actually this is a good sign, leaving it on Friday nights to waste away was not. I think this move will definitely help the longevity of this show.
Now if they would only swap Chuck with Knight Rider, our little-spy-show-that-could might make something of itself in the ratings dept. It’s sort of about crime, too. Sort of.
And come to think of it, Knight Rider might be a better lead in for Heroes anyway.
