Halloween … witches, goblins, ghosts. And those freakishly ghoulish fictional characters that grace our TV sets each week. Now, you can’t tell me you haven’t noticed how some of them resemble Halloween treats. Is it because I have a four-year-old? Nope, I don’t think so.
Whether it is in looks or the fiendish things they do, TV characters have a lot in common with Halloween treats. What do you mean no one has ever been quite twisted enough to actually slander write down the comparisons before? If that’s so, then you’ve been missing out on some all-in-good-fun Halloween dish.
Meredith Grey (Grey’s Anatomy) is a candy apple. Between her pencil-thin body and her enormous round head, I am not sure how anyone could miss this comparison. Add in the too-close close-ups and you can practically see the caramel dripping down her head.
Dexter Morgan (Dexter) is a Butterfinger. For such an experienced serial killer, he sure is botching a lot of kills lately. Time to get serious again, Dex, and stop with the butterfingers…
Dr. Gregory House (House, M.D.) is a Sour Patch Kid. Get over it already, House, and stop being so bitter toward the world, and life in general. It isn’t so bad, once you get out of your vicious circle of self-pity. Actually, a nice House would totally suck, so I really want him to be a Sour Patch Kid for the run of the series.
Tripp Darling (Dirty Sexy Money) is a Sugar Daddy, of course. He enables his screwed up kids, keeps Letitia in style, and although we haven’t seen it yet, I can’t help but think there will be a mistress revealed at some point. Rich men on nighttime soaps just aren’t faithful; it’s not good TV.
Who else but Wendy, Sam’s — a.k.a. 2B — neighbor (Life on Mars), is seriously flaky enough to be a Milky Way? I actually love this hippie flower-child and the energy she brings to the show, and the different side of Sam that we get to see when he is with her. But she does have her head among the stars…
Denny Crane (Boston Legal) is a pumpkin Peep. C’mon, someone had to say it. He’s soft and squishy, but he springs back when pressed. He’s even slightly orange if you look at him cross-eyed.
I’m sure many Halloween treat resemblances have gone unnoticed by me — share yours in the comments!
