OMG!!! Kellie Pickler was on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve!!!!!!

During breaks from The Twilight Zone Marathon, I admit I tuned in to watch Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve ’09. I’m not proud of it, but there you have it.

Every year, I think, hey, it might be fun to be in Times Square some New Year’s Eve. But then I watch the show and see everyone shivering and all that forced fun, and well, I’m glad to be home watching it in the warmth and comfort of my living room. Anyway, here’s a few thoughts from my intermittent viewing of the show last night:

Dick Clark. He’s a national treasure for sure, but – gah! – I feel bad watching him post-stroke. It’s great that he’s still doing the show – and hiring Ryan Seacrest to do all the legwork was a good move – but part of me is wondering if he should retire. I’m standing by for that bolt of lightning to strike me down.

Ryan Seacrest. I like Ryan Seacrest. There, I’ve said it. He knows everyone in the entertainment biz, connects well with the fans, and still has that kid-in-a-candy-store look about him. He’s a great person to grab the New Year’s baton from Dick Clark.

Kellie Pickler. OMG!!! SHE’S SO EXCITABLE!!! ARE WE HAVING TOO MUCH FUN HERE, OR WHAT?!!!

The Pussycat Dolls. My son walked by when they were performing and said, “Why are there strippers on the New Year’s Eve show?”

Solange. What the heck was up with that yellow streak across her eyes? Did she get nailed in a paintball fight before the show?

Ne-Yo’s Dancers. More strippers. More provocative dancing. I thought maybe they would get it on right there on the stage.

Jesse McCartney. He’s so cute! I just want to give him a big hug.

Fergie. She always looks like she’s ready to bed down the first guy who gets near her. Stick close, Josh Duhamel! In fact, I really wish HE would have made an appearance.

Lionel Richie. ???????????????

The Jonas Brothers. You know, whatever.

Did you watch the show? What made you cringe, and what made you happy?

When Dick Clark dies, he will be 80 next year, if it’s Seacrest and Kellie Pickler that will be a disaster!

I thought Dick Clark did very well this year, he doesn’t move his right arm that well, and his speech is messed up, but he stayed with the countdown. The last few years since the stroke he would be seconds off, this year he got up to the numbers when counting down.

He also stayed on longer than the last few years, he talked to Ryan and Dick Clark didn’t just go the countdown and leave.

I watch just for him and the fact his wife comes over and they kiss, I love it.

He will never retire, not until he dies. I’m hoping he lives to 100!

I swear everytime I switched to ABC the Jonas Brothers were on. So I watched the ball drop on NBC. Their music was more bearable and I was too busy getting the champaigne ready to change the channel.
