(Season 2, Episode 13 – “La Vie En Pose” )
This was a bittersweet episode of Lipstick Jungle — bitter because everyone and their mother were fighting about one thing or another, and sweet because the ending was a compilation of scenes from previous episodes. It’s clear that they don’t think we’ll be seeing any more of the girls.
While this wasn’t my favorite episode of the series, I’ll still be sad if this is the end. Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price are dynamic actresses who work well together. They’re fun to watch, even if the storylines in this episode seemed a bit forced, as if the writers decided they’d better ring every last fight and argument they could out of it. They sure know how to suck the life out of a dying series.
Case in point: Victory’s parents come to the city to attend her and Joe’s engagement party thrown by Nico and Wendy. It seemed cliche to have her parents be “common folk” who don’t fit into Joe’s world. At one point, Victory tells Joe, “My family is so close, it’s not like a family, it’s like a cult.” Well, if they’re so darn close, they’d know that she hob-nobs with the rich and famous, too.
I wish Nico would just get over herself. Now that she and Griffin are spending time together, she’s all hyped up about having to sign the relationship papers for the company’s files. Just enjoy it, Nico. And I’m not buying that you’re so sold on having Kirby back in your life. You’ve got a good thing going with Griffin. Just go with it and quit whining about everything, for cripes sake.
And there was conflict just about everywhere else we looked in this episode:
And here’s my WTF Moment from this episode: The new online editor flying out to Skywalker Ranch for George Lucas’ annual press event on electronic publishing. Really? You’d think he’d have more pressing matters to think about.
What are your thoughts on this episode and Lipstick Jungle? Are you sad to see it go?
I keep hoping that I will see an anouncement that Lipstick Jungle will be back next season…cute…funny…sexy…gorgeous clothes and accessories…terrific show and a great addition to an otherwise boring line-up.
