CliqueClack’s guide to finales, premieres, and crappy summer shows

goodbye_to_season

CHECK OUT OUR UPDATED LIST OF THE BELOW. NOTHING TO SEE HERE! MOVE ALONG!

May I have your attention please. I don’t want to alarm you, but the current 2008-2009 season is fast coming to an end. We’ve already seen some season and series finales (Privileged, Battlestar Galactica) over the last few months, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In the next few weeks, many of your favorite shows will wave “so long” — some of them for good.  After that….

The summer season. Once a time of reruns and variety show replacements, summer has become a time to shun the legacy networks, who like to fill their schedules with crappy reality programs, and switch to the cable networks, which have quality, first-run, scripted programming. Okay, I take that back. At least NBC is trying this year to inject some scripted programming into their schedule. Granted, it’s imported from Canada and England, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Still, the cable networks rule the scripted programming kingdom.

Of course, you need one resource to locate all of this information. Therefore, as done many times over the last few years, I present to you the 2009 CliqueClack TV listing of finales and premieres. As usual, times and dates may change at the whimsy of drunken program executives. So, if you see anything that needs to be fixed please let us know. And now, without ongoing celebration….

Where is Mad Men?

April 1, 2009 at 3:45 PM

What about the summer starts for Big Love, The closer, Psych….

I can’t believe I almost look forward more to the summer shows than the fall shows!

April 1, 2009 at 4:51 PM

I believe it’s changing to SyFy with the return of Eureka

what about Monk and Psych?

April 1, 2009 at 4:51 PM

and Leverage?

April 1, 2009 at 6:16 PM

Two thumbs up for this great post. I have “TV Forecast” on my iPhone but this list here I’ll bookmark to check up on what’s coming :-)

I can’t believe that “Weeds” isn’t dead. And yay five days ’til “Rescue Me” starts :-)

And Re: Leverage and Mad Men – I think the long contract negotiations are the reason for no final date for the premiere of the third season and Leverage has just ended.

I’m missing Stargate: Continuum. Or better it would be neat to know when it starts although the preview looks horrible. All I’m saying is “28 Gates later”…

April 1, 2009 at 10:19 PM

I think you mean “BattleStargate Universe.” Or possibly Voyager.

April 2, 2009 at 5:55 PM

Leverage is coming back this summer, if the TNT commercials are to be believed.

I think they’ve been in production for a while now.

April 1, 2009 at 9:38 PM

Dollhouse finale?

I don’t remember shows ending in April when I was a kid. Did they?

Can we keep a tag to this post and keep it alive as things premiere, etc.?

April 1, 2009 at 11:34 PM

I want to watch The Prisoner, is that anytime soon?

April 2, 2009 at 5:40 PM

Just saw the Pilot for Southland. It was fantastic!!!!!

April 13, 2009 at 3:44 AM

I was surprised to see this air on USA

April 2, 2009 at 10:33 PM

Argghggh, just saw the finale of Life On Mars, and there’s not gonna be anything that good all summer.
Just can not believe they cancelled it.

April 9, 2009 at 3:47 PM

If NBC cancels Life I’m going to boycott this network. Its not bad enough that Leno is going to be on during prime time but they’ve cancelled so many great shows. Thank god for cable programming.

April 12, 2009 at 5:30 PM

What about Burn Notice? USA website says June.

April 12, 2009 at 11:17 PM

After downloading the last four episodes of Eli Stone using bittorrent, I can say they’re definitely worth watching. They did a great job of giving the show a little closure and made me feel better about losing such a great show.

April 20, 2009 at 7:43 PM

i love ncis.ncis is the bestest show.

April 20, 2009 at 9:49 PM

What about “Gene Simmons:Family Jewels”?
I fell in love with it last summer.

May 4, 2009 at 2:49 PM

Just wondering…

How do we know which shows are the Series Finale, as opposed to the Season Finale?

Some of them I am aware of, but there are a lot that I am not (aware of).

Thanks!
