Aside from the heart-stopping twists and turns the Damages season two finale provided, we were left with just enough loose ends to keep us guessing — and interested — in what season three will have in store for us. I’ve got a couple of predictions about Ellen and Patty, Daniel’s fate, Claire Maddox, Patty’s family troubles and Ellen and Wes.
First of all, Ellen and her job offer. A couple of CliqueClack commenters have some interesting thoughts about this. Hot Mama 62 thinks the job offer is from Patty, to be a partner in the firm. CJ thinks perhaps Ellen and Claire Maddox will team up. Either of these could be a possible scenario, and both would be f-u-n.
We know Ellen believes in the work Patty does, and if she’s got her closure from the gun-threatening scene and Patty’s honest confession, then I think it’s plausible that Ellen could work for Patty, as a partner. I wonder how Tom would feel about this, and like Jane, I wonder if Tom will be the new Uncle Pete for Patty. Pete’s left a void, but Tom might be too pure to fill it.
Pardon my digression … let’s get back to Ellen and Claire Maddox working together. It would be fun to watch the duo face off against Patty and Tom, wouldn’t it? I’d like to see Claire back in full form; as manipulative as she was, I didn’t like to see her get cut down by Kendrick, although something tells me she’s learned a lot from that indiscretion.
That brings us to Daniel. Granted, he is no innocent, but technically, he didn’t kill his wife, yet he’s rotting in jail for it while his daughter has no one. I think this will come into play next season, and hopefully it will bring Claire back in fighting form. How they’ll discover Daniel’s innocence should be interesting.
I was very sad that Phil had an affair. It seemed that her marriage was the one steady thing in her life, the one thing Patty had done right and now that’s gone too. I wish they had kept them together, but the messy divorce surely will come into play next season, as will Micheal’s college-less disasters and his new mother figure / girlfriend. Will Patty learn to separate her cutthroat career moves from her personal life, and make better choices? I hope so. because I don’t want to see the complex Patty Hewes become two-dimensional.
So, is Ellen with Wes? When she was talking with David at his grave, I think the viewer is to assume that’s who she meant, but Damages has been known to throw us a few curve balls before. I’d say they’d be crazy not to keep Olyphant around and delve into his personality a bit more, because this dude who so easily smoked the bearded cop definitely has a dark side.
Whatever the case may be, I’m anxious to see how things play out in season three. At the end of season one, they really set us up for what season two would be about. I like that they’ve left some mysteries for us to ponder while we await Damages‘ return.

My predictions
– Ellen and Wes will get more serious and then just as things seem good she’ll find out that the what Wes’ original intentions with her were.
– Ellen probably has a job offer from her lawyer friend who warned her to stay away from Patty. There will probably be a lawsuit that involves Ellen versus Patty. In the end Ellen will probably go back to Patty.
– Ellen is bound to find out that it was the bearded detective that killed David, and she’ll reconcile things with Wes after she finds out that he killed him.
– Another possibility is that Patty offers Ellen a job at Hewes and associates and I see an episode in the future titles “Tom’s revenge.”
I dunno about you guys but I can’t wait! When does Season 3 start?
I think Season II was amazing!Watching it through from the start I didn’t put too many links together which I probably should have, but the finale was the most awesome finale I have ever seen. Can’t wait until Season III anyone know when it’s rumoured to start?
I disagree with the “Patty’s honest confession” comment. I don’t believe that she was behind the attempt to kill Ellen. The way she told Tom about it at the end makes me think she didn’t do it. Besides, she was under duress….she’d been stabbed…and figured she was going to be shot. The tears were tears of pain, not fear…
And the “Ellen believes in the work Patty does” comment, I don’t agree with that either. I think that was Ellen playing up to Patty to get her to trust her, so Patty would go along with the judge bribe and Ellen could see her arrested.
But, the finale was fantastic, I think it asked more questions than it answered though….

I love your comments.. “The tears were tears of pain, not fear…”…. Oh come on… Patty had a gun pointed at her. I would have fear if anyone pointed a gun at me, even my own mother. I think Patty gave a true confession.
Also Ellen does believes in the work Patty does however, she does not agree with the tactics Patty uses. After all Ellen interviewed for that type of job because she believed in that type of work before all this happened.
I can understand and appreciate your point of view but I think you need to consider all the other things that has happened since the beginning of the show.

For me the last season almost ended like a series finally.
They could have done more with Ellen’s private investigation into who tried to kill her; however, there is a possibility that she is still investigating her ex-boy friends’ murder.
One thing for sure… it is very hard to imagine that she would go back to work for Pat!
Tom may have a weaker character and really depends on Pat but Ellen has a much stronger character and she does not need Pat to survive.
This is the only show that I watch on a regular basis during the course of busy week.

What ever happened to the box that was given 2 ellen by her fiancee? She never opened it yet it is strinly implied it has something to do w/his death?

It was David’s wedding present to her, and I remember it being fairly significant, but I honestly don’t remember what was in it, ans neither does the rest of the CliqueClack team that watches Damages — aren’t we a help! ;-)
She didn´t open David’s present. Wes told her in the group counceling that the present was the last looking forward she would have with David.
I gues she will open during season 3

I don’t get it…”Damages” Season 2 pretty much wrapped everything up. There is no storyline anymore…no point in watching the show anymore…
And what kinda show will it be if Parson and Hewes are on good terms? The whole point of the show was the secrecy, back-stabbing, intrigue of it all…

this gives them the opportunity to create a new storyline. Why would they just up and cancel the show for no reason? I trust in the writers to come up with something good, as they have done for the past 2 seasons.
Personally, i hated the william hurt storyline. everytime he came on, i just wanted to mute the tv.
And somehow, frobisher will become relevant in season 3 agian
