First of all, careful listeners to last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother may have noticed Ted’s most excellent ringtone for when Barney calls: Robin Sparkles’ ‘Let’s Go to the Mall’! In case you’re wondering: yes, it’s available to download on iTunes. Whether or not that’s the exact ringtone Barney had, I’m not sure. But you know you want it.
I happened to get the season finale episode in the mail yesterday, so I of course popped it in as soon as last night’s episode was over. The network was apparently so eager to get this out to the press that it was even a rough cut, complete with visible green screens for effect. Yes, HIMYM needs green screens for the finale. Who’d a thunk it? (Warning: other mild spoilers to the finale ahead)
More than a few people were pretty frightened after last week’s episode that we were finding that Stella was going to turn out to be the “Mother” of the show. That was clearly put to rest in this episode, though there’s a final nail in that coffin in the finale. No, we do not learn who the mother is in the finale, but the show is clearly closing in the perimeter on where Ted will finally meet her.
Also in the finale — without giving too much away — we see Lily finally return for good, a hilarious (at least from Ted’s POV) and much waited for encounter with a goat, and more with what’s going on (or not going on) with Robin and Barney.
Finally, the final scene of the finale sets up a location that’s ripe with possibilities for this series. A new world will be opened up to Ted and, in turn, likely much of the rest of the cast.
Lastly, my favorite moments of last night’s episode:
It’s Ted’s phone that had it for when Barney calls.
I so tried not to laugh last night but when Robin asked for the Fistbump I was rolling on the floor… that was SO evil and SO fitting for that *beeping* “person” Stella is.
God I still hate Jason Jones in his role on HIMYM. It’s just wrong. He’s such a douche and he’s “The One” for Sarah Chalke? Gimmeabreak…
Oh man, the Robin line “I must insist that you bump this” was awesome! I liked it too.
Perfect work,
