How I Met Your Mother … and Barney’s back!

Last weeks episode of How I met Your Mother ended with a simple, two-word promise: “Daddy’s home.” And home he is, because tonight, Barney’s back. I won’t say he’s better than ever, because I don’t actually have any quotable lines from this episode, but he’s ripe with the Barneyisms we all love and Barney’s in full form — no pesky Robin scars to make him a changed man.

I couldn’t have been happier with the way this episode unfolded. We had the Bays-Thomas non-linear storytelling, a Barney-centric episode and more catch-phrases than you could fit into, well … a playbook.

Instead of mooning over Robin for several episodes — which we didn’t need since we saw Barney castrated for most of this season already — Barney jumps right back into the game, a game which he’s been recording for posterity’s sake … and for this post, because how could I not list them all?

• The MILTSWANCAs (Mothers I’d Like To Sleep With And Never Call Again) — Not technically an entry in the playbook, I couldn’t leave this out because it was the first Barneyism to catch my attention tonight. Funny stuff, the likes of which have been missing as Ted and Marshall tried to coin the catch-phrase of the episode all season.
• The Don’t Drink That
• The Mrs. Stinsfire
• The SNASA — secret NASA … you’ve heard of it, right?
• The Cheap Trick
• The He’s Not Coming
• The Ted Mosby
• The My Penis Grants Wishes
• The Scuba Diver
• And last, but definitely not least, The Lorenzo Von Matterhorn. If you haven’t cruised on over to the Wikipedia page yet, you’re too late — the wiki-police apparently watch How I Met Your Mother, because it’s gone. Do I need to mention that it looks like Robin will get a new boyfriend? Not sure if she’ll be married in six months, but she certainly took to Don right away.
