This is Tommy Johnagin, and I am willing to eat my hat if he doesn’t win Last Comic Standing. It’s a straw hat, so it should be fairly organic if I am wrong about this, but I don’t think I am. I’d love to say one of the two women in the final ten (Rachel Feinstein or Laurie Kilmartin) will win, but I just don’t think this show is fond of female comics; see my last rant. Having said that, voting starts next week, and I will be sitting in the club car of Laurie’s train. Porter! Can I get some peanuts please?
A lot of good people got cut this week. I liked this gal, Fortune Feimster. She has some work to do on her act. She’s kind of raw in her delivery, but I was sad to see her go; she made me giggle.
Guy Torrey was the most interesting example yet of awkwardness. Before he hit the stage, he talked himself way up. I was expecting Richard Pryor or something. But then! His act was so cruel and political, he turned everyone off. Especially the judges. And when hearing his critique, Guy said, “I do my research before I tell jokes. Maybe you don’t, but I do.” For more of him, if you can stomach it, hit the video below.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Which brings me back to Tommy Johnagin. He left school at 21 to be a stand up comic. He’s fairly well known, especially if you’re a fan of the Bob and Tom radio show. He made the semi-finals of LCS a few seasons ago. And he’s funny. I’m not a betting girl, but if I was, here is where my money would be. (If you’d care to bet me though, we can talk privately.)
I won’t give you a video of him to watch here, because I want you to be watching LCS and reading my reviews. C’mon, I’m not stupid!
