In last week’s post, I mentioned that V was starting to get thrilling. This week, in “Siege”, the show went to an entirely different level. Action. Sacrifice. Battle. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire episode and didn’t see any of it coming. Anna has continued to surprise me at the lengths she will go, and her amazing ability to manipulate a situation.
I should have realized that a happy family life for Erica, Joe and Tyler wouldn’t last too long, but I didn’t; and I definitely didn’t expect the tragic ending. Elizabeth Mitchell’s heart wrenching performance — in the midst of rubble, holding Joe — was captivating. I felt Erica’s pain. Yes, I needed tissues. Erica tried to do the right thing and she loses Joe and then Tyler blames her and leaves her too. I look forward to seeing her take this tragedy and use this to lead the Fifth Column and bring Anna down.
Betrayal has been a reoccurring theme on V and people have paid with their lives for it. Each traitor has had their reasons: some good, some to protect another, and some selfish. But, the worst of them all has to be Hobbes. Hobbes oh Hobbes. What is going to happen to you? What a hypocrite! He doesn’t even give Ryan the benefit of a doubt or wonder the reasons for his betrayal, yet Hobbes is just as much or I think more under the influence and control of the Visitors. He had better get his comeuppance for killing Joe and the others. Maybe, just maybe, he will find his conscience, look around him at the sacrifices others have made and realize that there is a greater good. (Anyone else think Ryan survived the bombing and is alive?)
Eli Cohen took a no holds barred approach to bringing down Anna and the Visitors, even sacrificing innocents for the greater good. This put him on the wrong side of the game, but in the end, Hobbes is so much worse. He is a selfish mercenary, while Cohen was willing to sacrifice not only innocents, but himself to win the battle. It was unexpected, but set the tone for the coming war.
How great was the meeting between Lisa and her Grandmother, Diana? They will be a formidable force against Anna. One thing I do like about this series is that the Visitors and the Humans can both win. This isn’t necessarily a win or lose situation. I am hopeful that the end game for the series is co-existence.

I was hoping Hobbes would have second thoughts, so I was disappointed that he went through with it. Conscience will catch up with him, I hope (with only 4 episodes to go). And I can’t wait for more Diana/Lisa team-up! I’m going to be really disappointed if there isn’t a third season.
Me too. I was very disappointed he went through with it. Waiting to see how Erica finds out about it. Perhaps video of the scene?

Yeah, ABC cut the season order back to 10 episodes after giving season two a greenlight, but hopefully the ratings uptick will continue. Unfortunately, the new head of ABC programming has said V is not high on his priority list so there are going to have to be major gains over the next four weeks. And we also get Marc Singer in episode 10!!!
Just saw that the ratings rose again for a second week! Could there be a miracle by the season finale?!?!
Ratings rose something like 0.1, right? Not the groundswell needed to save the show … :(
Up 6% from last week and the only show last night to post ratings growth.
Any increase is a good increase. I really want to see another season even if it is just a shortened one. And, this season is ending with a cliffhanger.

Poor Erica… as soon as she kissed Joe, I knew he was a goner. It seems to me like the writers want to push Father Jack as a potential love interest for Erica. That’s why he lost the collar and Joe died.
I think that moment when Erica finally slapped Tyler (probably for the first time in his life) was amazing, because that tension had been building throughout the series. Tyler was disrespecting her and acting like a brat from episode 1, and Erica let him walk all over her. After finding out that he vandalized the church, she gave him a hug. Geez, when he was growing up did she give him gold stars for lying and pats on the back for cussing at her? Now he’s eighteen, and the long overdue slap was too little too late.
