Cougar Town – Penny Can!

"Truck Ghost," "Drano," "Stache Attack." We learned so much during the triumphant return of 'Cougar Town,' it's hard to believe we get a whole other episode this week.

- Season 2, Episode 15 - "Walls"

Out of all of the things I missed about Cougar Town – the camaraderie, the comedy, and the drinking; I think I missed Penny Can the most. Luckily, this was the perfect episode to bring us back from hiatus, as everyone’s favorite coin-based game was front and center.

Bobby needed money for blah blah blah (something golf related, maybe?), so he and Laurie set out to make money by selling official Bobby Cobb penny cans. They, of course, are terrible at selling things, so the cul de sac crew had to come bail them out. Namely Grayson, who spent $600 of his own money throwing a penny can party at his bar. I do wonder, since so many bars and restaurants fail, how Grayson actually keeps his afloat. He really is a terrible business man.

In any case, the party was a success and everyone in town found out what a great game Penny Can is. In fact, all of you can find out too by buying your very own Bobby Cobb Penny Can by calling 1-855-PENNYCAN. Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence was answering the phone tonight, but when I called, the mailbox was full. He tweeted that he was having fun and to keep calling though, since they’re emptying out the mailbox and answering phones as fast as they can.

The other big story is Travis. This is a situation in which I kind of hate the internet, because there’s no mystery any more. According to the storyline, Travis may or may not be asking Kirsten to marry him. However, Collette Wolfe, who plays Kirsten,  has recently been cast in a pilot over at NBC called Lovelines. So this certainly doesn’t bode well for Travis and his older gal.

Of course, the idea that Travis would get married at 19 is pretty ridiculous regardless of any pilot news, but then again, this is a show that made Andy and Ellie’s baby disappear – and is also named Cougar Town. So.

All I know is that marriage or no marriage, baby or no baby, I’m happy to have Cougar Town back on TV where it belongs. Especially because the Truck Ghost joke at the end killed me. Kudos to Christa Miller for her reaction, and thank you Cougar Town writers for giving me something to do to my truck-owning friends.

I enjoyed this episode too, and penny can and truck ghost were my favorite parts. I really can’t stand Travis’ girlfriend and I can’t stand how mushy-gushy he is with her, so I’ll be happy to see her off to Chicago!
