Shows we miss during summer hiatus – Quibbling Siblings

Every week brother and sister team Bob and Debbie take on a new topic. This week, we dream about what we'd be watching if anything was actually on TV right now.

Debbie:

Since summer TV is such a complete bummer, I’ve been fantasizing what new episodes I want to see on my screen the most. If I had to pick the perfect night, three shows in a row of complete television escapism … it’s tough.

Definitely Supernatural; I can’t express to you how eager I am to see where they’re going with season seven. We were left with a cliffhanger and a Willow season six situation — good guy gone power hungry with complete loss of control. Then there’d be The Vampire Diaries. I know I’m shameless, but the thrill of the week-to-week OMGs has me longing for new episodes. Finally, I’m throwing a new show into the mix: ABC’s Revenge. I loved the pilot of this Damages / Veronica Mars cross and if it lives up to even a fraction of the shows it reminds me of, it’s definitely on my must watch list.

How about you — what would your dream lineup be?

Bob:

Well, I am thrilled about the return of Breaking Bad, but I really wish we were getting a new season of Mad Men as well. I am one of those crazy Mad Men fans and I can’t believe AMC is making us wait so long for another season. At least all the crazy negotiations with the show runner are done and we have two seasons coming up.

Aside from that, I really love my comedies. I could really go for some new episodes of Community or Parks and Rec, or 30 Rock (which I have been watching on Netflix). THAT would be some fun summer programming. Forget about these fluffy hour long quasi-dramas that seem to keep popping up. A nice half hour of genuine, creative laughs would be much appreciated. Luckily, Louie is going to be coming back, and Elijah Wood’s Wilfred looks mighty interesting. I think it will be very funny or horribly awful.

Debbie:

Oh, now you’ve got me thinking about Community and Cougar Town … consistent crazy laughs every week. I’m also not sure I can get through the summer without a new episode of Castle, either … and I have officially exceeded my three shows (which, I might point out, you did as well)!

We just so happened to see Wilfred‘s pilot episode last night … my vote is horribly awful. I’m not even going to bother to watch the other two episodes we have of it, it was that bad. Elijah Wood (who is not my favorite to start with), potty jokes and annoying characters … just plain bad.

Bob:

Aw, that’s too bad. I was hopeful that it would be bizarre enough to be intriguing. Supposedly it was very popular in Australia before they adapted it for America. Oh well, we’ll still get Louie.

How about you? What would you be watching right now if there was actually television airing?

FRINGE!!! (Says the scifi junkie) Plus the usual suspects: Bones, House, Community, Castle, Chuck (and we still all eat Subway while watching every week), Stargate Universe…crap, scratch that last one I guess.

I REALLY have got to check my medication! How did I miss listing Supernatural after it was not only mentioned, but there’s this huge, honkin’ picture at the top of the article.

Crap…I’m becoming my father.
