Did anyone think Nancy Grace would be thisclose to the Dancing With the Stars semi-finals? I can’t believe Nancy is still there over David, who really didn’t deserve to go home last week. Will Nancy’s fans keep her around after this week’s results show? It really does prove how much viewer votes count.
This week the stars and their pros had two dances tonight, one of which was the instant jive. While they were allowed to rehearse during the week, no one knew what music they had until tonight’s show. Let’s see how everyone did on this night of highs and lows.
Rob & Cheryl, Quick Step — Not as tight as his tango last week, but some nice footwork and good frame in hold. Len hated the opening, but loved his posture when in hold, and he tucked in buttocks. Bruno said Rob was speedier than a drag race, sharp and clean, and showed incredible improvement. Carrie Ann said he was polished, smooth, elegant and light on his feet. Tom: “And you had the best week of any Kardashian.” Score: 27, best score yet.
Instant Jive to “Maneater”: Not bad at all for 20 minutes of rehearsal with music. Len: no glaring mistakes, did great, but sharpen the feet. Bruno: great pace and youthful energy. Carrie Ann: needs more toe pointing, but remained in control of the dance. (Those striped pants he wore did Rob’s butt no favors.) Score: 24, with a total of 51 / 60.
Hope & Maks, Quick Step — Maks and Hope agreed to tone down the competitiveness between them, and Hope actually asked for help from Maks. The dance was a little out of sync at times but it was bright, light, energetic and the most fun Hope has had so far. Bruno: rebooted, reenergized, light, breezy, radiant, best dance yet, a night of miracles. Carrie Ann wanted a hug, said they were so in sync, showed so much joy and love. Len: fast, energetic, fulfilled her potential. Score: 27, highest score so far.
Instant Jive to “The Best Damn Thing”: Good job, really needs to kick out more, her legs were too drawn in when they should have extended. Bruno: like a wild child, but stretch back of knees for that extension. Carrie Ann: definite improvment from the last jive in week two, but had strange hands. Len: fantastic, everything a jive should be, what’s wrong with other two judges? Score: 25 with a total of 52 / 60.
Ricki & Derek, Waltz — Beautiful, Ricki just glides across floor, and very nice hold. Carrie Ann: exquisite movement, Ricki loses herself in the dance. Len: beautifully executed, but needs to nail the footwork to get a 10 from him. Bruno: deliciously dreamy, beautifully finishes her lines. Score: 28.
Instant Jive to “Land of 1000 Dances”: Terrific, nice and sharp, good kicks (although Ricki felt she disappointed everyone). Carrie Ann: a few stops and starts but got back into it. Len: two opposite dances tonight, and she coped well. Bruno: good variety of steps but did start and stop. Score: 24 with a total of 52 / 60.
Nancy & Tristan, Tango — Nice footwork and hold, but seemed a little hesitant. Len: best dance since week two. Bruno: a brazen Jezebel, wrapped those legs around Tristan and didn’t want to let go. Carrie Ann: frisky, clean, sharp, needs to work on toe points. Score: 24.
Instant Jive to “Upside Down”: Got lost a few times, but good shimmy and a cartwheel! Len: after comparing Nancy’s eight weeks to a Cinderella story said, “it’s midnight and it’s time to go home.” Bruno: a little laid back and loose for a jive. Carrie Ann said Nancy got lost but trusted Tristan and got right back into the dance. Score: 20 with a total of 44 / 60.
J.R. & Karina, Waltz — Sometimes a little stiff and sometimes beautiful, loved the spin on his knees midway through the dance. Bruno: like a musical valentine card, J.R. made beautiful music with Karina. Carrie Ann: something happened in the middle that was magic. Len: came back all guns blazing after last week. Score: 30, first one of the season.
Instant Jive to “Tutti Frutti”: Not one misstep that I could see. Karina’s tactic of learning the dance in segments throughout the week paid off. Bruno: off like a rocket, flicks were sensational, timing impeccable. Carrie Ann: in a class of his own. Len: J.R. has the X-factor and feel-good factor coupled with the most fantastic jive. Score: 30 (the second of the season) with a total of 60 / 60.
With J.R. in first place with a perfect score and Ricki and Hope eight points behind tied for second, will Nancy once again end up in the bottom two with her 44 points and finally meet Jimmy Kimmel, will the Kardashian backlash dash Rob’s hopes of getting into the finals, or will there be a completely shocking elimination Tuesday night?
