Another slow week on the broadcast networks was highlighted by a down finale for ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. Over on cable, the future looks bright for TNT’s ‘Falling Skies’, which ended just a tenth below its premiere result.
The short list of releases this week includes ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Top Gear’, ‘Hey Arnold!’, ‘Webster’, ‘M.A.S.K.’, and my slightly bizarre interpretation of what actually constitutes a spin-off.
Last week we were again reminded that a whole lot of people really like ‘Jersey Shore’. The show was easily the big winner for the week. On the broadcast networks, ‘The Bachelorette’ finale was good news for ABC.
This week’s releases include ‘United States of Tara’, ‘Eastbound & Down’, ‘Everwood’, ‘MST3K’, ‘Super Hero Squad’, ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, ‘Ben 10′, ‘Samantha Brown’, ‘Garrow’s Law’, ‘The Colony’, and ‘Pie In The Sky’.
While things were mostly quiet on the broadcast front, the big premieres continued on cable. Last week saw the return of ‘Entourage’ on HBO, and ‘Project Runway’ on Lifetime.
The week in DVDs brings ‘Burn Notice’, ‘SG:A’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘The Street’, ‘Wish Me Luck’, ‘The Bretts’, ‘Dennis The Menace’, ‘Man From Atlantis’, ‘Martin & Lewis’, ‘Lucy’, ‘Honeymooners’, ‘Conan’, ‘Justice League’, ‘Shaun The Sheep’, ‘Jersey Shore’, and ‘Snapped’.
With a by-the-numbers week on the broadcast networks, the big stories were on cable, where the Women’s World Cup did very well and the premiere of ‘Breaking Bad’ brought very good numbers for AMC.
