An exciting week found personal records being set on cable (‘Pawn Stars’) and broadcast (‘NCIS’). In not so happy news, the return of full schedules didn’t do any favors for NBC’s Thursday comedies, or FOX’s ‘Fringe’.
It took two months, but ‘Supernatural’ is finally back. Even better, the show is firing on all cylinders. This week tied up some loose ends where the return of Sam’s soul was concerned while hinting at new problems and giving us a peek at the new big bad.
A short list this week includes ‘Airwolf’, ‘Garrow’s Law’, ‘Blue Murder’, ‘Saturday Night Live’, ‘Flockton Flyer’, and ‘Single Handed’.
It was a bit of a slow week with President Obama again bringing mayhem to your regularly scheduled programming. The highlight in all of it was the NFL once again flexing its considerable ratings muscles. Over on cable, week two was not kind to MTV’s ‘Skins’.
The week is headlined by ‘Glee’ and also includes sets for ‘MI-5′, ‘She-Ra’, ‘Scooby-Doo’, ‘Agatha Christie’, ‘Shadow of the Tower’, ‘Puppets Who Kill’, ‘Pie in the Sky’, ‘Man in a Suitcase’, ‘Matlock’, ‘Wish Me Luck’, ‘Webster’, and ‘Zorro’.
This week the team returns to the case of Beckett’s mother after someone with new information is murdered in front of Castle and Beckett. The story of why she was murdered becomes clear, but we’re again left puzzling about who gave the order.
Mid-season really heats up this with premieres from ‘Harry’s Law’, ‘American Idol’, ‘Skins’, ‘White Collar’, ‘Royal Pains’, and ‘Fairly Legal’. We also saw the debut of ‘Fringe’ on Friday, and the new NBC Thursday. There are also some surprising numbers for ‘The Game’ on BET, and more ‘Jersey Shore’ craziness.
