The Academy Awards was the big winner for the week, managing to top the ‘Idol’ juggernaut. ‘Idol’ was still huge for FOX, while CBS had great showings from ‘2 ½ Men’, ‘Big Bang’, and ‘NCIS’. ‘SVU”s return to 10 PM was a bright spot for NBC.
After a divorce, Jen finds herself dating again. The awkward outings that follow prompt her to start a diary. ‘Party Girl Plus One’ is our look at that diary, right down to the guy with the smell fetish and the waxing of Jen’s fun-bits.
Current shows with DVD sets this week include ‘Greek’ and ‘In Plain Sight’. They’re joined by a large collection of classic crime-time, including ‘The Commish’, ‘Matt Houston’, ‘Scarecrow and Mrs. King’, and ‘Wiseguy’.
Strange circumstances surrounding a dead graduate student lead the team to Dungeon Alley. Their trip to the underground world of domination catches a killer, and sets the stage for all of those things that we love about ‘Castle.’
With the Olympics out of the way, our TV schedules were once again filled with new episodes. ‘American Idol,’ as usual, clobbered everyone. The week also brought three premieres for NBC and the first new ‘Southland’ episodes on TNT.
A mugging leads to Allison meeting a self-defense instructor (guest star Laura Prepon). That seemingly innocent introduction soon leads to a dark tale that sheds a little light on Scanlon’s history, and leaves him with a very difficult decision.
‘The Ballad of Mary & Ernie’ tells the story of a full size sheriff in a miniature western town. And when I say miniature, I mean toy-soldier sized miniature. Sound crazy? It is. But it’s the good kind of crazy.
