It’s that time of year again … when the award shows launch the year and awkward speeches and sequined gowns flow liberally across our television screens. Did you watch this hot mess?

The group challenge at a Chinatown dim sum restaurant has the contestants falling apart. But we do learn that Tom Colicchio is kind of a bad ass. Scratch that, he IS a bad ass.

After a long period of repeats, it was great to see the show return. It was even better for me that the show focused on the five main characters — Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard and Penny. Why … it was like old times again!

Here’s what I think: no tryout lunchroom follies are all in Sue’s mind. There is no such thing, and she and Carly were just dancing in the lunchroom like a couple of crazies … blows your mind, right?

In this episode, Mitch and Cam live in an alternate reality and Claire should probably go work for Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, because she is amazing at slogans.

The jury’s definitely still out on that, but the two-episode extravaganza ended with a possible game-changer that just might help us all like ‘Human Target’ again.

‘Cougar Town’ returns with a new episode showcasing Jules as the angel of death, Laurie as a master of the art of ordering coffee and a lot of Diet Dr. Pepper.
