Ratings Clack – Big Bang hits highs while Luck stumbles out of the gate

‘Big Bang Theory’ continued its fabulous run, topping ‘Idol’ in the demo again, and hitting a series high for good measure. Over on cable, HBO debuted ‘Luck’, to lackluster results, and then promptly renewed it.

I feel for Little Runk. No way in the world does that kid make it to adulthood without being seriously damaged. The key for any enterprising therapist is to get in early and hang on with all their might. Anyone in on the ground floor of that project will have hit the jackpot.

Californication – It’s all fun and games until someone gets shot in the arm

The sight of Hank getting knocked down by a fellow artist — actor, director, writer, whatever — is nothing new, but I feel like it wasn’t quite as funny seeing someone who looks like Pete Berg punching him in the face. Next time, how about Woody Allen?

The flood of premieres for the new year continues with ‘The Firm,’ ‘Are You There Chelsea,’ ‘The Finder,’ ’30 Rock,’ ‘Rob,’ and ‘The Game.’ That’s both good and bad, as the numbers run the gamut from ‘sure to be canceled’ to ‘solid hit’.
