The Grammys and The Walking Dead top an otherwise down week – Ratings Clack

The big news on the broadcast networks last week was the huge ratings for the ‘Grammy Awards’. The death of Whitney Houston brought viewer levels the show hadn’t seen since the ’80s. Over on cable, the amazing run of ‘The Walking Dead’ just keeps going. The latest premiere finished even higher than the last one.

NCIS – No Palmer? No fair!

Talk about odd casting choices. How about Ray Wise as superhero ICU’s father (and the man behind the murders)? The Devil himself signed on for two minutes of screen time on an ‘NCIS’ episode? Huh?

Another Super Bowl record, and great starts for Voice and Smash – Ratings Clack

Another record setting ‘Super Bowl’ was the big event last week. But for our purposes here, the more interesting results concern the premieres of ‘The Voice’, ‘Smash’, and ‘The River’. One of those is not like the others. I’ll bet you can guess which one.

NCIS – Faster than a speeding bullet

‘NCIS’ celebrated its 200th episode tonight with what could only be described as a giant stinker. Sure it was nice to see some old familiar faces, but talk about a terrible way to commemorate a milestone. Hopefully #201 will bring the quality back.

Ratings Clack – Premieres! The Firm, Chelsea, The Finder, 30 Rock, Rob, The Game

The flood of premieres for the new year continues with ‘The Firm,’ ‘Are You There Chelsea,’ ‘The Finder,’ ’30 Rock,’ ‘Rob,’ and ‘The Game.’ That’s both good and bad, as the numbers run the gamut from ‘sure to be canceled’ to ‘solid hit’.

NCIS – You think they took the apartment?

Thanks for the drive-by, Steve Urkel! Next time you think you could play a character with actual story significance? You’ve got to wonder why Jaleel White would agree to be “guy who finds the dead body.”

Ratings Clack – Bachelor, Work It, and Biggest Loser start the 2012 premieres

The new calendar year is upon us, and the mid-season premieres are already starting. ABC kicked off ‘The Bachelor’, ‘Wife Swap’, and ‘Work It’, while NBC had a brand new season of ‘Biggest Loser’. Over on cable, have the judge/host shenanigans ruined ‘Project Runway’?
