Last week brought a rare sighting to broadcast television, in the form of the lowest rated dramatic premiere ever. Amazingly, that was followed by a renewal for the lowest rated show on another network. Meanwhile, over on cable, the going was also slow for the latest from HBO.
This spring continues to be a dark time for all of television, with lows hitting across the board. That didn’t bode well for the premiere of ‘NYC 22′ on CBS. Over on cable, HBO had their own struggles with the premiere of ‘Girls’.
Spring continues to cause havoc for the television ratings. The big story on cable remains ‘Game Of Thrones’, despite a host of Showtime premieres. On the networks, imagine a repeat finishing #1 at 9 on Thursday against all new competition…
This week’s releases include ‘Weeds’, ‘Nurse Jackie’, ‘Borgia’, ‘Fades’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘Matlock’, ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, ‘Lawrence Welk’, ‘Hazel’, ‘Jayce’, ‘Young Justice’, ‘Archie’s Weird Mysteries’, ‘ Underdog’, ‘Carmen Sandiego’, ‘Heathcliff’, ‘Gadget Boy’, and ‘Bob The Builder’.
Most of the excitement was on cable last week, with premieres from ‘Wilfred’, ‘Louie’, ‘Suits’, ‘Burn Notice’, and ‘Futurama’. There were also finales for ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Killing’, ‘Nurse Jackie’, and ‘United States of Tara.’
Three NBA games stole the glory for the week on the broadcast networks while cable offered up a number of summer premieres, including ‘White Collar’, ‘Covert Affairs’, ‘Switched At Birth’, and ‘The Glades’.
Season three of ‘Nurse Jackie’ is heading into the home stretch and really picking up steam. With the drama (and the comedy) at an all time high, is this the best season yet?
