True Blood – Someone gets strangled

HBO

(Season 1, Episode 11 – “To Love is to Bury”)

“Man up, my friend. She’s not even one night old.” – Eric to Bill, on his new (and unmanageable) vampire charge, Jessica

So, it sure looks like the killer is a guy! Doesn’t it? And speaking of Amy and Jason … oy! He should have trusted his instincts about V and not done that last drop with her. For a minute there, I thought I was watching Heroes. And ugh, that scene where they’re cleaning up Eddie’s remains? So gross. I was practically puking along with Jason.

And now with Amy gone and Eddie dead, Jason is the only one around to take the heat for everything.

Interesting about the “making” process – how Bill had to get into the ground with the girl and then train her in the vampire ways after she clawed her way out of the ground. So funny, though, how ecstatic she was about the whole thing. She gets to kill people! And say whatever she wants! And really, Eric will make a way better maker than Bill, don’t you think? (Jessica to Bill: “You are the WORST maker ever!”) I loved how Bill and Eric were discussing the situation while she was right there in the room with them.

And what’s up with Sookie suddenly turning to Sam while Bill’s away? She knew he had the trial and couldn’t be with her for who knows how long. That’s why he asked Sam to look after her, for cripes sake. So when Bill shows back up and finds her kissing Sam, she gets all huffy about it and rescinds her invitation? Not good, Sookie, not good. Though Sam is definitely a worthy guy. Hard to turn him down.

Was the woman who bailed Tara out of jail – MaryAnn – the same woman in the road with the big pig last week? Because I think it is. No idea where this is headed, but obviously, MaryAnn is up to something.

What do you think the scoop is with Drew Marshall, the brother of Cindy, the girl who was murdered? His photo and info was being faxed into the police station at the end of the episode. So maybe he’s the killer…? It doesn’t make sense that it would be a character we don’t even know.

Loved the scene with Lafayette painting his toenails blood-red, and then smooth-talking the politician and letting him know he’s got something on him. Lafayette’s a lot of fun.

Jane,

You did realize that the photo of Drew Marshall was actually Arlene’s fiancee Rene, right?

I stayed up the entire weekend catching up on this show, and I can’t stop myself, I’m addicted to synthetic Tru Blood. I didn’t expect to like this show so much, I was never interested in this fantasy genre, but this show is truly an unique experience – vampire civil movement, mind reader, human craving “v”, spiritual nirvana, vampire politics, fangbanger, fake voodoo (that I so wanted to believe in), and omg, shapeshifter!? the show is out of this world.

I was very upset by the reveal of Drew Marshall as…someone who “looks like” (but not, I hope?) Rene because I love all the supporting characters so much! They are all funny and lovable~ The only one that I have no sympathy for is that over-sexed loser, Jason, but I don’t want any of them to be the strangler. As for Bill’s punishment – Jessica, I bet he was thinking that he should have killed her last episode when he was first told, news to Bill – human emotion can be deceiving, lol.

I’m very eager to find out Maryann’s true intention, why was she waiting for Tara that night, and what’s with that pig (was it from a nearby farm or something?) First, they have naked Lizzy Caplan swimming in the magical forest, then, Stephen Root as the lonely gay vamp, Zeljko Ivanek pop up as the vampire elder, and now, Michelle Forbes (who has been in every cult show in the last decade) naked with a pig. I’m loving every minute of it, True Blood is my favorite new show this Fall.

The Photo at the end was Rene!
Rene without facial hair. Remember Rene’s story about losing his sister? Rene is the Killer!

I thout it was pretty clear that the killer was Rene. The outfit the killer wore looked a lot like one of his outfits, and the fax they got to the police station was clearly Rene with shaggy hair. I read a interview with Nelsan Ellis (Lafyatte), and he described Rene as “real, real shady.”. He also said the nuances in the way the actor plays the part forshadows something big. As Jason has demonstrated, he probably told or implied to Rene that all of those women had been with a vampire, so there is the connection. I am sad to see Lizzy Caplan go, but she has become somewhat of an “it” girl, so she’s probably moved on to bigger and better things.

Carl – I didn’t realize that until you guys mentioned it. Certainly makes sense, though, given all the factors involved. But then Drew/Rene would have killed his sister, right? Isn’t Drew Marshall Cindy’s brother?

Drew Marshall is Renee

Einhorn is Finkel. Finkel is Einhorn.

ah… man…. i really liked rene.
when the killer came into the bedroom i thought it was other worker that jason was talking to earlier, the one that asked outright if lizzy had slept with vampires. maybe it is, and he killed rene’s sister and rene has been searching for the killer on his own? doubt it, just looking for a way out with rene.

i’m guessing maryann is a witch and the pig was her familiar? the religion response was interesting.

best line, “I can’t listen to politicans anymore, it gives me seizures.”

we can all relate after the past couple years, i think ;-)

I didn’t consider that Adm. Cain was a witch, but given the nature of the show if she’s not a witch I get the feeling we will meet one soon. On another note, how badass is Eric? He’s kinda of a vampire pimp; he tells his minions to pipe down, and they do it without him raising his pimp hand.

I’ve got a feeling that Michelle Forbes’ character, Maryann, is a shapeshifter just like Sam (hence the pig nearby). Perhaps she’s a relative, or she’s holding Tara hostage to bring Sam to her.

Just like tvjunkie, I spent the entire weekend catching up with this show and I’m hooked.

Make sense James

Season 1, Ep 12: You’ll Be the Death of Me

Sookie finds a connection to the murders in Bon Temps. Jason finds a new goal in life. Bill tempts fate, continuing to find a way to rescue Sookie from harm. Sam is troubled by a familiar face from his past.

I realized while watching this episode that Bill and Sookie are by far my least liked characters on the show.
