Lost in Lost – Two minutes of season 5

We’re still more than a month away from the premiere, but that doesn’t mean all is quiet in the world of Lost. We were treated to our first sneak peak at the new season this week. I’m not talking about a trailer here, but a whole two minutes from the season’s first episode!

Alright, it’s a little sad that I can get this excited over two minutes of a TV show, but Lost does crazy things to me. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve embedded the clip after the jump. It features Kate and Aaron and a mysterious group of visitors to Kate’s home….

Other happenings this week include a chat transcript from Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and an amazing discovery I made on the ABC website.

First, that amazing discovery I mentioned. I was surfing the interwebs the other day looking for Christmas gifts for my family and I found myself over at the ABC store looking at Lost trinkets, when I stumbled upon this! That’s right, you and your loved ones can be decked out this holiday season in full Dharma jumpsuits. Yes, they’re a little pricey, but I want one! I want one!!!

Dark UFO has a great transcript from a chat with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. There are a couple good nuggets, but what I found to be the most interesting were a few of the influences that the Lost bosses referenced. Damon talked about how he and his father used to watch Twin Peaks together. It is one of my favorite shows as well, and one that I often think about in the same way as Lost. Both are mysteries that beg the audience to participate by watching closely for clues and theorizing. It’s the main reason I love both shows.

The other inspiration that Damon referenced is Stephen King’s The Stand. He talked about how The Stand starts as a scientifically based story and as it develops becomes more fantastical, much like Lost. I think there will be a lot more science fiction and fantasy elements on the show as we move forward into season 5 and 6.

What do you guys think about the sneak peak? Who do you think is behind Kate’s visitors? Widmore? Sun? Locke?

My money is on Jack/Ben being behind the test.

Only way to get Kate back on the island, force her to go on the run again.

I felt my temperature rise, when those men said what they wanted.
