Spotlight Show of the Night
Momma’s Boys (10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central, Series Premiere) – Hey, just because I spotlight it doesn’t mean I think it’s going to be good. I see this as the biggest trainwreck NBC has put on the air in a long time. In fact, it reminds me of something FOX would have put on the air in their Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire? days. The premise is pretty simple, take three guys and a huge group of hot chicks and it sounds like a typical dating reality show. But no, these are Momma’s boys so they can’t choose a woman without mother’s approval. Oh god, this should be as awesome as Crowned and The Swan! And if this is what NBC creative is coming up with for the 10pm hour, Jay Leno was the right move.
Beginnings, Endings & Specials
The Biggest Loser (NBC, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central, 6th Season Finale) -With four finalists left, all the couple come back to show us how great they’re looking, and we get to find out who the winner is.
Blush: The Search for the Next Great Make-Up Artist (Lifetime, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central, 1st Season Finale) -The final challenge is a high-profile fashion show, but in the end three will become one winner.
Breaking the Huddle: The Integration of College Football (HBO, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central) – This documentary looks back at how the civil-rights movement finally impacted college football, culminating in the 1970 game between Alabama and Southern California with black RB Sam “Bam” Cunningham rising as the star of the game.
A Charlie Brown Christmas (ABC, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central) – While I’m a huge fan of the Peanuts comic strip, and am collecting the chronological reprinting of the entire series, I was always less enthusiastic about the animated versions. Probably because the animation wasn’t all that great and the voice acting wasn’t much better, though the stories were still sweet. This is the granddaddy of them all, though, with the little three that could.
Cha$e (Sci Fi, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central, 1st Season Finale) -This video game/reality show has an abandoned theme park as the setting for the final episode. I hate to say it, but while I enjoyed the first episode as something unique, by this sixth outing the formula is getting pretty stale.
Egypt Unwrapped (National Geographic Channel, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central) – An investigative look at what more we’ve uncovered about how Cleopatra and her contemporaries may have lived.
The IT Crowd (Independent Film Channel, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central, 2nd Season Finale) – When Douglas hires Jen to be his new assistant, that leaves Moss and Roy with free reign in the office.
My Shocking Story (TLC, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central, 1st Season Finale) -The series, which has introduced us to people with some extraordinary mutations or physical situations wraps its first season playing on its title by looking at people who act as conductors of electricity.
Speed Capital of the World: Bonneville (The Discovery Channel, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central) –
The Spirit of Christmas (MyNetwork TV, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central) -A Christmas concert featuring the likes of Natalie Cole, Brian McKnight, Al Jarreau and … Bo Bice. One of these things is not like the other, one of these things it just don’t belong. Still, though, good to see Bo still out there doing what he does.
Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel (TruTV, 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. Central, 1st Season Finale) – A thunderstorm threatens the revelry, a partygoer skips out on his tab and security has to wrestle a drunk marine. Maybe it’s me, and admittedly I’ve not seen this show, but what is “Rehab” doing in the title of this show?
X-Play 2008: The Year in Video Games (G4, 8:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. Central) – Kind of self-explanatory, isn’t it?
