Kyle XY’s Latnok – good or bad?

kyle-hover

Hmmmm. As loyal viewers, are we to think that Latnok has really changed its tune since the beginning of the season (or series, for that matter)? There are lots of arguments that perhaps Latnok is not the evil organization it was made out to be, that the new regime has only pure intentions to save the world.

But how can an organization who would kidnap Amanda on prom night just to see what Kyle’s made of  have pure intentions? Let’s explore.

OK, the kids at the college seem to be legit, but that doesn’t mean that’s all there is to Latnok now. If I were Kyle, I’d stay with Latnok because he’s got some good friends who are willing to support him there, and then he can be close to the enemy. Perhaps his family and friends won’t be in danger (as Foss thinks) if he stays close.

Speaking of Foss (you know, the completely underused character in last week’s episode of Kyle XY), we know he knows more details than he is telling Kyle, but the dude always seems to conveniently run out of time. If Foss thinks Latnok is dangerous, he’s probably right. This we know about Foss.

And really, back to the beginning of the season: I’m not sure we can find a logical explanation for all of the sinister goings-on. Why would Cassidy threaten Mark in regards to dating (or not dating) Lori? Why would Latnok think kidnapping Amanda is a perfectly acceptable idea if they are legit? And why would they not have just invited Kyle to the college Latnok to begin with if that really was their only intention?

Are we to believe that Nate is the only evil force at work? If that’s true, we might as all just go watch Greek.

I suppose we can make one assumption: Even if there is some grand conspiracy (and wouldn’t we all be disappointed if there wasn’t?) it seems that not everyone is in on it.

The worst part about it is that now that Kyle XY has been canceled, we may never know the answers. Can we have a TV movie to wrap up the loose ends, ABC Family? Pretty please?

One Response to “Kyle XY’s Latnok – good or bad?”

Hello!

I do not mean to be rude as I haven’t watched the show and from the summary I think it’s Smallville meets John Doe, there is one irritating thing I would like to reflect on:

And that is how eaisly North American television can sell billshot to viewers about the uknown part of Europe. Ever since Bela Lugosi every creep in a horror movie who is not Igor, still speaks with a Russian accent, has Romanian ancestors, and has a Hungarian name or combinations of all of the above.

Relevant is this to Kyle XY in that much, that I had to laugh out loud reading the name Latnok, for which I can’t take the whole thing seriously. Somebody should tell the clearing house that does give the green light on names that can be used to get a friggin dictionary, because I’m almost 100% sure they took the title from a wandering circus, where the mysterious psychic had that name. Latnok or as in látnok how it will be written does not mean anything else but seer, only in a language that is spoken in the US by at most 1.2 million people and who gives a **** about them, right?

So all in all having to lose originality is the right reason to cancel a show for good
