Project Runway – What a twist!

project runway intro

The current season of Project Runway has yet to bring out its star talent or resident weirdo, but that is doing wonders for catwalk justice. In previous years, it would sometimes feel like producers were keeping certain contestants on the show simply because of the controversy they stirred (creepy Victor? Rosette-tastic Angela?). However, this episode’s elimination convinced me that Project Runway is moving in the right direction. They’re already on thin ice with this move to Lifetime; they can’t really afford to make viewers too angry.

Also, also, I had no idea that Lifetime was doing this, but apparently you can watch full episodes of Project Runway on their website. Four for you, Lifetime! You go, Lifetime.

First of all, if someone had just shown me the runway footage without any sort of episodic context, I never would have guessed it had anything to do with surf-life. That wasn’t the point of the challenge, of course. The focus was the drama of each team-up. Ra’mon and Mitchell seemed like an uncomfortable combination (though not as nightmarish as Qristyl and Epperson, who clashed from the get-go), so much so that Mitchell’s elimination wasn’t even that surprising, despite the fact that the show has never picked a winner and a loser from the same team. It’s like he didn’t even try to talk his way out of it, or maybe he had forgotten that he has been in the bottom two for all the other episodes.

In next week’s episode, Tim Gunn hangs out alone in the workroom with thirteen ladies, evidently. Tim Gunn, you lady-killer!

I’m sorry but why would fans be mad about the move to Lifetime? I don’t know a single person who cares what network a show they like is on.

Also my cable dropped Bravo after season 3, go lifetime!

All right, maybe “mad” is the wrong word. “Worried”? I know a fair number of people who, like me, got a little weirded out by the almost-sappy ads that Lifetime was releasing. It was a strange departure from the general tearful bitchiness of promos past.

Oh yes worried is a much better word to use. :)

I’m enjoying the show, there isn’t really anyone I really want to win, but I like it enough to watch, more so because nothing else is on.

I actually felt kind of bad. I only watched the ending, so I didn’t get to see the beginning. I think Mitchell handled his dismissal well. However, compared to the lace stirrups, I didn’t think he quite deserved the boot. I also hated that it happened due to his friendship with Ra’Mon. It looked as if Ra’Mon would bite the bullet and let Mitchell take the credit, but then in the end he threw M under a bus. So, yes, it’s a competition and I wish I knew what happened between them during this ep, but those two are the ones I thought would remain friends post-PR. But, as it was Ra’mon’s runway confession that cemented Mitchell’s offing, I felt a little bad for the latter.

Watch the rest of the episode. Mitchell did NOTHING, he was supposed to be the leader and did NOTHING. Literally not a thing. Like they said three strikes and you’re out.

Mitchell desperately needed a booting. He crapped up in every episode. Ramon (I refuse to spell with a random apostrophe) got lucky. I don’t know why they loved the green dress so dang much.

I approve of the move to Lifetime because now I can watch the show for free without cable. Huzzah!
