CliqueClack’s guide to the 2009-2010 winter TV season

In the period known as "Back in the Day", the period between December and the first few weeks of January were full of reruns. These days, everyone, including the original Big Three, launch a whole new set of shows that totally mess up your viewing schedule.

Newest advertisement for SyFy's CapricaDid you notice the title said “winter season” and not “mid-season?” That’s due to the changing face of television. In the period known as “Back in the Day,” the period between December and the first few weeks of January were full of reruns. These days, everyone, including the original Big Three, launch a whole new set of shows that totally mess up your viewing schedule.

To keep track of this, especially the extremely hard to follow FOX lineup, we continue our annual tradition of listing the newest shows, as well as mid-season finales and returns, that you’ll be stuck watching during those never-ending blizzards that lock you up in the house with your wife, kids, three-year-old canned chili, and a four-pack of toilet paper. As mentioned in previous years, dates and times will vary at the whim of drunken network executives.

To subscribe to the below schedule in iCal, copy this link and paste into the ‘Subscribe…’ menu item in iCal. You can also just click it to open iCal or even click to add to your iPhone calendar. The same link will work in a Google Calendar as well! Or see the calendar as a web page (also embedded at the bottom here). The calendar will update as new shows are added/changed and sometimes with links to our reviews as we publish them.

You have to love the fact that Project Runway has had over a year between seasons and now has two months? lol

December 1, 2009 at 2:48 PM

You missed the Dollhouse series finale Jan 22

December 1, 2009 at 2:59 PM

Thanks, anon. I’ve updated the post.

December 1, 2009 at 6:39 PM

the pic for this post is hott! just saw the full thing on SyFy’s website… I can’t wait for that show to start

December 2, 2009 at 1:41 PM

“Caprica, the BSG sequel that we’ve waited 150 years for”. Hmmm…either 150 years is arbitrary, in which case I completely agree…can’t wait to go back into the BSG universe. But, if 150 years refers to the time line, you either mean 58 years (Caprica being set 58 years before BSG), or 150 thousand years (the BSG universe is 150 thousand years in our past).

December 2, 2009 at 3:51 PM

Pretty sure that Rich was referring to the fact that Caprica was in pre-production for seemingly as long as BSG ran :)

December 2, 2009 at 3:53 PM

That would be correct, Ivey. I’m thinking that Caprica will be on for 30 years — only because the production of each season will take five years.

December 20, 2009 at 5:38 PM

I was wondering if there was a pacific time version of this calendar so that I can import it into iCal.

January 4, 2010 at 11:39 PM

Thanks for the complete list of shows, I am looking for the new schedule of my favorite show, Shark Tank because I want to see the last 5 episodes and hoping that they order more.
