Yesterday, director Jeff Eastin posted the above photo from the White Collar set. I found it on Twitter. When Twitter first became a phenomenon, I was not a fan. I liked blogs, and I was suspicious of something that has a 140 character limit. Now, not only have I bowed to its inevitability, but I have succumbed and become a regular user/follower. This is not going to earn me any IQ points or a membership in Mensa, but what won me over to Twitter was following TV stars and their shows. It’s better than celebrity gossip rags, because it’s updated constantly. There are pictures. And instead of anonymous rag writers I’ve never heard of (ahem, I realize that I am one of those writers right now, and I’m okay with that), I am reading what the stars themselves are writing.
To be fair, I understand that the characters I like on TV are not the same as the actors. I don’t expect the actors to be as witty as their characters. That’s why I also follow a lot of TV writers and directors. I feel ridiculous for even saying this, but following casts makes me feel closer to them. I feel sort of like I am in the inner circle of White Collar, Bones, House, and Community. I love reading about Olivia Wilde’s travels, and Joel McHale’s and Danny Pudi’s antics (not to mention their live shows as they travel). Donald Glover likes to post fake texts that are pretty funny, too.
If you follow highly-publicized fans of TV shows, you can get a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes pics of your favorite shows too. I have even become interested in watching shows based off retweets I have seen, like Burn Notice. I’d like to start doing a weekly roundup here of what’s been happening in Celebrity Twitter Land during the week. For example, NBC Universal Store just posted this:
We are live skyping with @joelmchale & @gillianjacobs on Thursday in the store. What questions do you have for them? Send them my way.
Of course, I know I’m not following everybody I should be. Who are you following on Twitter? Who have you had a Twitter conversation with? Who should I be following? You know you do it. Everybody does it. I just did it, and I am about to do it again. Follow me!

Well, Jen, when Bret Harrison had an open account, I chatted with him, I spoke with Kirstie Alley about the Pedegg and I had a fairly decent conversation with Sebastian Bach (yeah, that’s right). On MySpace when it was Sons & Daughters was on TV, I had several conversations with Fred Goss, who is one of my favorite funny people. I also chat with Charlie Craig, who wrote for Eureka last year. He’s a really great guy and I like him just because.
Jealous!!!
