It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – So who DID get Dee pregnant?

The big question of the episode is "Who got Dee pregnant?" -- it is literally the title of the episode. Well, we didn't find out who he is, but we did find out who he isn't. And we learned far too much about Artimis and Frank's love life.

- Season 6, Episode 7 - "Who Got Dee Pregnant"

I’ll admit it; since learning last week that Kaitlin Olson (who plays Dee) and Rob McElhenney (who plays Mac) are married and recently had their baby in real life, I’ve been rooting for Mac to be the father on the show, too. Funnily enough, Mac is more than relieved to find out he isn’t the baby daddy, as are the rest of the guys.

Perhaps the most disturbing act break in the show suggested Dennis impregnated his own sister (something I unfortunately predicted last week), but it’s good to know even Always Sunny won’t go there. They’ll describe using a moldy hamburger bun during lovemaking in a dumpster, but incestuous pregnancy is still off limits. On that note, I’m really glad the father is not one of the actually incestuous McPoyle brothers, either.

I’m pretty disappointed the father of Dee’s unborn child wasn’t revealed at all. Still, it isn’t as frustrating as when South Park left us hanging back in 1999 because, unlike in South Park, none of the guys cared once they knew they weren’t the father. I can live with it not being revealed, but I hope they keep Dee pregnant for the rest of the season. My worry is that Dee will be magically not pregnant in a few episodes and theĀ  baby will never be mentioned again.

So when Dee lies to them about one of them knocking her up during the Halloween party, they have to piece the evening together. The best laughs in the episode come from realizing how inaccurate their memories are. Mac finds out that his heroic moment actually entailed punching an innocent woman in the face who Charlie thought was the Waitress was a highlight of the episode. And I am always for Dennis being full-out rejected by women (serves the creep right).

What I like about Halloween episodes in general is seeing what kinds of costumes the characters would choose for themselves. In pure Charlie fashion, the illiterate janitor went as the Phantom of the Opera, but he thought he was a vampire. Dee went as a sexy angel, but the guys just called her a monstrous bird. The most personality appropriate costume came from Artimis, who has become a more often reoccurring character through her creepy relationship with Frank. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of woman buys the sexy nun costume, you know now!
