…And keep that hussy doctor away from Joe. There are so few certainties in life, so when one of them is messed with, it makes me extremely uncomfortable. So when Medium started messing with the rock that is Joe and Allison DuBois’ marriage, it upset me.
Now, don’t get me wrong: their marriage dynamic certainly isn’t the easiest. Joe has to deal with being woken up in the middle of the night every goddamn night of his life and listening to his wife’s horrifying dreams — and that’s the best-case scenario. On a bad night, she doesn’t recognize him, or can’t understand what he’s saying, or thinks she’s a rich, murdered housewife. The point is, he has a lot to deal with, while Allison has to deal with her husband being a hot rocket scientist.
It’s a weird marriage for sure, but it works. However, in this episode, it was certainly working less than normal. Even though everything seemed to be resolved at the end of the episode, I have a weird feeling that we may be seeing Rena Sofer again, because that part of the storyline seemed somewhat unresolved.
As for the main mystery… eh. I loved seeing Judy Reyes back on TV, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in seven seasons of Medium, it’s that Allison can’t have any female friends. Every single time she tries, they either become the victim or the perpetrator of a crime — usually the perpetrator. So as soon as Allison and Jane started buddying up, anyone who’s ever seen this show knew that Jane was in on it in some way.
I did kind of enjoy the ending though — as soon as Jane started running her mouth about her plan and all of her money, I knew the dude selling the necklace was going to get her. It was a nice ironic twist, considering that she got caught up in this in the first place because someone was bragging in a different language and was arrogant enough to think that no one could understand him.
However, I’m bothered by the increasing number of times that the bad guy doesn’t end up getting arrested, but is killed in the end. Medium has become very “eye for an eye” lately, and I don’t completely buy Allison’s attitude of, “Eh. All’s well that ends well.” I understand that her life and job are tough, but the vengeance aspect of it seems a little bit off to me.

I think it is scarier that Rena Sofer is still being cast as a femme fatale, someone who would actually be able to take a man away from his job (NCIS,) or another woman (BONES, in a lesser sense.)
At least she can’t kill Medium, it has already been cancelled.
Why and how does Sofer keep getting work?
