If I make some lasagna using Barilla will I get lucky like Hanna? Most likely not, but you have to hand it to Hanna’s mom Ashley for choosing a brilliant place to hide her unauthorized loan. I love that Laura Leighton is still playing the bad girl, deep in her heart. You can take the girl out of Melrose Place, but you can’t take the Melrose out of the girl! Unfortunately, much like Sydney, even her best laid plans fall apart in the end.
I really can’t decide if Aria and Ezra are okay together, or getting more distasteful every week. It could be that the more people who know, the more uncomfortable I become knowing the possible ramifications; but could Ezra really be a good guy if he is interested in a 17 year old girl? Noel blackmailing him for grades is obviously just the tip of the iceberg, and Aria deserves to be happy, not anxious about her boyfriends. That leaves out both Mr. Fitz and Noel.
Emily’s mother is in way over her head in dealing with Maya. Even if she was a boy, Mrs. Fields would still be beside herself due to Maya’s parents’ unconventional ways. As it stands, she doesn’t accept anything about Maya or her role in Emily’s life. As she was crying in the pantry, I no longer felt harsh toward her, but understood what it must feel like to see the future you imagined for your daughter go up in a puff of smoke. Emily’s dad is far more understanding, but he is going to be on active duty again soon, which will make her life hell.
Creepy is the word for the guys of Pretty Little Liars and Lucas stepped it up a notch by deciding to go from honor roll to toilet roll. When the sweet geek starts a tumble toward the darkside, there is no telling where he will go. The entire party that Mona threw for Hanna (who clearly didn’t want it) was off kilter. Not many people there even like each other, making it for one of the strangest get-well parties I’ve ever witnessed. If anything, Hanna was worse off when it was over.
Now that Toby Cavanaugh has been given the shaft by the entire town, Keegan Allen has really been hitting his mark, and he’s not the same struggling actor he was in the first part of the season. He also helps add momentum to the creepy kids of Rosewood club. I wouldn’t have imagined at the beginning of the series that Sean would be the best catch in town (other than Maya). When Sean reaches his tipping point with Lucas (acting like he’s poking a sleeping bear), his friends pull him back saying “it’s like picking a fight with a kid that needs a telethon.” Is that magic or what?
I’m really enjoying the flashback scenes that will lead up to what happened on the fateful night that ended Alison’s life. They’re provided at just the right time and with just enough information to keep us guessing and yet, completely in the dark. The candidates for A are plenty and rather than rule people out each week, there is more evidence bringing new suspects into the fold. Two mysteries, neither one near it’s conclusion. I cannot wait for next week!
