Music makes Eureka go round!

'Eureka' begins its next story arc - the Astraeus project. First, the town has to deal with its residents exhibiting odd behaviors.

- Season 4, Episode 12 - "Reprise"

How absolutely wonderful was Felicia Day as Dr. Holly Marten? Not that Eureka has been a dry or boring show, but her high energy brought a freshness to the show. This was by far my favorite episode of Eureka. It had the perfect combination of humor, wit, twists and character growth.

I have to say I had no idea what was going on with the characters until it was revealed and the use of music was impressive. I loved all the songs that were used. It was great to see how the music influenced each character; the reactions showed their individual underlying issues well. The funniest was Fargo FTLing Holly with no remorse or worry. A confident Fargo was hilarious to watch and didn’t seem impossible given his leadership and control in space. It will be interesting to see if this experience heightens his actual abilities as the head of GD.

The most heartfelt reaction was Zane burning down Jo’s house. I will probably repeat this each week … I adore the two of them.

This story was so perfectly put together. I spent most of the show wondering what the heck was going on and it all came together so perfectly. I actually wondered why Allison was sent to this conference. I thought it was just a ploy to get her out of town so that Carter and Kevin could spend time together. Though, that didn’t make sense, because this show is better written than having a throwaway story.  The payoff was well-worth the confusion. The surprise reveal at the end – wow!

Eureka quotes and notes:

  • I think my favorite scene had to be seeing Fargo bust out the moves to Eye of the Tiger.
  • “Tapes? Are we living back in 1982?” – Holly
  • Nice to see Kevin and Jack getting along.
  • Kevin’s wild behavior was enjoyable to watch given his changes in the new timeline.
  • Loved the song choices, they were perfectly selected.
  • So excited to have Felicia Day on the show. The role was written for her and is perfect.
  • Beverly’s back! That can’t be good. What is Allison’s implant going to do? Nothing good, that’s for sure.
